Rev. Robert G. Davis Sr. of Kings Mountain, father of the bride- groom, officiated. John Settlemyer was organist and pianist, Renee Harris was flutist, and Michael Moore and Beth Triplett were soloists for the program of wedding music, The bride was given in marriage by her father, She wore a long white satin gown with a open V neckline and long sleeves featuring pearl ap- pliques. The Basque bodice, neck and sleeves were trimmed with a heavily flowered design and the open V back was accented with a dou- ble bow with cabbage rows in the center. A cathedral train was enhanced with cut-out appliques.The veil was draped from a tiara trimmed with lily of the valley filaments and pearl accents with beaded pouf, She car- ried a cascade of calla lilies and red and white roses. : Amy Austell of Belmont was maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Reid Bryan of Charlotte, Kim Scruggs of Asheboro, Lisa Zaleon of Atlanta, Jennifer Auten of Concord, Kathryn Friel and Kim Greene, both of Randleman, Teresa Thayer of Orlando, FL and Carolyn Vick of Memphis, TN. All the attendants wore straight red dresses with jackets and carried a hurricane globe and a candle arranged with red and white poinsettias and cascades of red, white and gold ribbons, Lane Wood of Kings Mountain was ringbearer. Kristina Davis of Lewisville was flower girl, The bridegroom's brother, Benji Davis of Kings Mountain, was best man, Groomsmen were Gray Davis of Lewisville, brother of the bride- groom; Shane Wright of Concord, brother of the bride; Rex Davison and David Crow, both of Shelby, Tim Rucker and Keith Sutton, both of Charlotte; Stack Reeves of Monroe and Jeff Triplett of Kannapolis. Participating in the wedding as honorary attendants were Laura Jacumin of Arlington, VA, and Sandra Wright and Kim Wright, both of Kings Mountain, "The bride's parents hosted the reception after the ceremony in the church fellowship hall. The bridegroom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner Friday night at] Barringer's Restaurant in Kannapolis. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Borders of Harrisburg and Jerry Wright of Concord. She is a 1986 graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School at Concord and a 1990 graduate of Appalachian State University with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education. She was af member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. Granddaughter of Mrs, Wanza Goforth of Kings Mountain and the late Alonzo Goforth and the late Mr. and Mrs, Clem Wright of Kings Mountain, she is employed as a teacher af W.R.Odell Elementary School in Concord, Rev. and Mrs. Robert G. Davis Sr. of Kings Mountain are parents of the} bridegroom. He is a 1986 graduate of Shelby High School and a 1992 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a B.S. de- gree in English. He is employed at WCNC-TV 36 and Cable ADNET, both in Charlotte. He is the grandson of Mrs. Van Davis and the late Van Davi of Starkville, MS and Mr. and Mrs. O.W. Black Jr. of Saluda, SC. After a wedding trip to Paradise Island in The Bahamas, the newlywed will reside in Concord. Roberts enlists in Army National Guard Derrick C. Roberts of Kings Mountain has enlisted as a member of the North Carolina Army National Guard. He enlisted as a member of Det. 1 505th Engineer Battalion in Shelby, as a 51B (Carpentry and Masonry Specialist). He is a senior at Kings Mountain High School. He will receive his basic training at Ft. Jackson, S.C. beginning June 10, 1993, and return in the summer of 1994 to attend his Advanced Individual Training at Fort Leonardwood, Missouri to attain his job skill. Derrick will be earning a month- ly paycheck and attending his meetings one weekend a month during his senior year of high school. He will also receive the GI Bill for continuing his education beyond high school. He plans to at- tend Gaston College in the fall of 1993. Derrick is the son of Mr. and Mr. Amos B.
