Talbert, 76, of 200 Oriental Ave., retired Kings Mountain florist, died January 3, 1993 at 7 a.m. at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Gaston County, he was husband of Grace Allen Talbert and son of the late Floyd and Elizabeth Rohm Talbert. He was a member of Boyce Memorial ARP Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Billy Talbert of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Jane Talbert of Kings Mountain; two brothers, Gene Talbert of Kings Mountain and Rev. James Talbert of Greensboro; three sis- ters, Mrs. Catherine Ross of Ranlo and Mrs. Ruth Taylor and Mrs. Carolyn Messer, both of Kings Mountain; and one granddaughter, Britt Talbert. The funeral was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Boyce Memorial ARP Church. Rev. Billy Barron and Rev. James Talbert of- ficiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. MARY LOU TIMMS Mary Lou Timms, 87, of § Battle Forest Apartments, died January 3, 1993 at Kings Mountain Hospital. She was a native of Oconee County, SC, daughter of the late Lewis H. and Julie Thompson Reid Busch and widow of Jesse Turner Timms. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Oak View Baptist Church. Surviving are three sons, Wayne Timms of Chester, SC, Cecil Timms of Hertford, and David Timms of Kings Mountain; and five brothers, Charlie Busch of Albany, GA, and Marion Busch, " Herman Busch, Clarence Busch and Harold Busch, all of Walhalla, SC; one sister, Mrs. Ruth Cottrell of Mountain Rest, SC; six grand- children; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. The graveside service was con- ducted Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Oak View Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Ralph Sparrow and Rev. Robbie Moore officiated. Burial was in Oak View Cemetery. JOHN PUGH CHARLOTTE - John Pugh, 86, of 324 Houston St., died December 30, 1992 at Presbyterian Hospital. A native of Cherokee County, SC, he was widower of Nannie Ramsey Pugh and son of the late Ed and Julie Knight Pugh. He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church of Blacksburg, SC. He was a security guard for Standard Textile. Surviving are one son, J. C. Pugh of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Rachael McAllister Johnson and Edna Pugh Kramer, both of Charlotte; six grandchil- dren and four great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Saturday at 3 p.m. at Christian Fellowship Church in Blacksburg by Rev. Willie Lanier. Burial was in the church cemetery. TED GOFORTH GROVER - Theodore "Ted" Calvin Goforth, 67, of 1531 Long Branch Rd., died January 1, 1993 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was the husband of Martha Clary Goforth and son of the late Alonzo Butler and Ella Mae Caldwell Goforth. He was a retired textile employ- ee and a member of Cherokee Street Baptist Church in Kings Mountain. He was a World War II Army veteran. : Surviving are two! sons, Kenneth Calvin Goforth of Salem, Oregon and Larry Gene Goforth of Kansas City, MO; one daughter, Vickie Goforth of Boardman, Oregon; three stepdaughters, Susan Black of Grover, Kay Logan of Blacksburg, SC and Faye Bolin of Earl; one sister, Mrs. Chester Jones of Cherryville; and three grandchil- dren. The funeral was conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Harris Chapel, Rev. Gene Leigh officiated. Burial was in Grover Cemetery. DR. EDGAR POOLE GAFFNEY, S.C. - Dr. Edgar M. Poole, 70, of 701 W. Smith St., died January 4, 1993 at Greenville Memorial Hospital. A native of Cherokee County, SC, he was married to Malinda Black Poole and was son of Gertrude McCraw Poole and the late Shuford M. Poole. A practicing optometrist, Poole operated offices in Gaffney and Clover. He earned the Distinguished Flying Cross with Clusters, was the first president of the South Carolina Mental Health Association, and twice served as Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a graduate of Limestone College and Southern College of Optometry and a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was salutatorian of the Class of 1942 of Gaffney High School. Surviving, in addition to his wife and mother, are five sons, Dr. Edgar M. Poole Jr. of Spartanburg, Dr. Benjamin Poole of Kings Mountain, Alan M. Poole of Boise, Idaho, Phillip C. Poole of Salt Lake City, Utah and Dr. Mark Poole of Gaffney; three brothers, John T. Poole of Spartanburg, Charles E. Poole of SimiValley, CA and Jimmy S. Poole of Spartanburg; and four sisters, Hazel P. Goudelock, Delia P. White and Mary Ann Clary, all of Gaffney, and Jacqueline P. Herlong of Spartanburg; and 19 grandchil- dren. The funeral will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Bishop Floyd Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John T. Poole, Charles E. Poole, Jimmy S. Poole, Dr. Edgar M. Poole Jr., Alan M. Poole, Dr. Mark J. Poole, Dr. Benjamin C. Poole and Phillip C. Poole. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7-9 p.m. at . Shuford Hatcher Funeral Home, 211 E. Frederick Street. The body will lie in state at the church from 1:30-2 p.m. THELMA MOSS Thelma Wise Moss, 67, of 807 Bethlehem Rd., died January 2, 1993 in Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was a homemaker. Surviving are one son, Stephen Ward Moss of Cherryville; one daughter, Donna Lynn Rathbone of Bessemer City; one brother, Eddie Wise of Bessemer City; four sis- ters, Faye Cable of Shelby, Myrtle Glover of Dallas, Carolyn Bowman of Blacksburg, SC and Dorothy Patterson of Bessemer City; eight grandchildren; and one great- grandchild.
