NANCY W. AGHELI
GREENSBORO - Nancy Ware
Agheli, formerly of Charlotte and
Kings Mountain, died February 20,
1993 in the Hospice Unit at Cone
Memorial Hospital.
She was born February 24, 1950
in Gastonia. She was manager of
the coat department at Burlington
Coat Factory for 15 years.
She was a lifelong member of
Kings Mountain Baptist Church.
She graduated from Kings
Mountain High School and attend-
ed Gaston College and CPCC.
She is survived by her husband,
Methi Agheli of Greensboro; a
daugther, Bunny Berman of
Charlotte; a granddaughter,
Brittainy Berman; her parents,
Helen and Leonard Ware of Kings
Mountain; a sister, Peggy W.
Johnson of Charlotte; and a broth-
er, Robert W. Ware of Gambrells,
Md. -
A memorial service will be held
Thursday at 11 a.m. at First
Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
Dr. John W. Sloan Jr. will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family re-
quests memorials be sent to:

CAMRON LUCAS SHORT
_ CHERRYVILLE - Camron
Lucas Short, one-day-old son of
David Wayne and Cynthia Freedell
Short, died February 17, 1993 at
Carolinas Medical Center in
Charlotte.
Surviving, in addition to the par-
ents, are his brother, Justin Noah
Ayers of the home; grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. Jackie Short of Kings
Mountain, Mrs. Sandra Cochran of
Cherryville and Jerry Freedell of
Stephenville, Texas; and great-
grandparents, James Miles Hicks
of Kings Mountain, Mrs. Mazel
Long of Cherryville and Roy
Freedell of Lincolnton.
The funeral was conducted
Friday at 11 a.m. at Cherryville
Church of God. Rev. Kenneth H.
Whisenant officiated. Burial was in
Kings Mountain's Mountain Rest
Cemetery.
JAMES EDDIE MELLON
James Eddie Mellon, 85, of 1226
Bethlehem Rd., died February 17,
©1993 at Cleveland Memorial
Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County,
he was widower of Elizabeth Texie
Trammell Mellon and son of the *
of Park Yarn Mill and a member of
Community Baptist Church of
Shelby.
Surviving are five sons, Hugh
Ray Mellon of Florida, Flay
Mellon and Earl Mellon, both of
Kings Mountain, Frank Mellon and
David Mellon, both of Shelby; sev-
en daughters, Vinta Beatty of
Mount Holly, Pearl Brittain of
- Hickory Grove, SC, Kathleel Buff
of Shelby, Betty Doris Crosby of
Cherryville, Joanne Stewart of
Kings Mountain, Louise Wilkie of
Grover and Gail Pearson of
~ Shelby; one brother, Ivy Mellon of
Lawndale; 34 grandchildren; 57
great-grandchildren; and 16 great-
great grandchildren.

Thursday at Community Baptist
Church. Burial was in Cleveland
Memorial Park.
BEN C. HAMRICK
Ben Cleophas Hamrick, 79, of
511 Oak Grove Rd., died February
17, 1993 at Kings Mountain
Hospital.
A native of Kings Mountain, he
was married to Gladys Scism
Hamrick and was son of the late
Cleophas ' and Sallie Hoyle
Hamrick. He was a retired farmer
and a member of Patterson Grove
Baptist Church where he served as
treasurer for 21 years and was a
deacon. He was a former director
of Oak Grove Volunteer Fire
Department.
Surviving, in addition to his
wife, are two sons, Kenneth
Hamrick of Morganton and
William Hamrick of Cartersville,
GA; three daughters, Maxine
Williams and Rachael Dover, both
of King Mountain, and Sara Mae
Weaver of Oxford; two sisters, Ava
McGinnis of Boiling Springs and
Pearl Beam of Cherryville; and
eight grandchildren, Christa
Williams of Durham, Kim Spurr of
Cary, Jason Dover, Charity
Williams and Ashley Dover, all of
Kings Mountain, Jeff Weaver of
Oxford, and Ben Hamrick and Liz
Hamrick of Cartersville, GA.
The funeral was conducted
Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Patterson
Grove Baptist Church. Rev.
Richard Plyler and Rev. Michael
Butzberger officiated. Burial was
in Patterson Grove Church
Cemetery.
MICHAEL HOVIS
Michael Lewis "Lippy" Hovis,
30, of 17 Oakhurst Trailer Park,
died February 20,1993 at Kings
Mountain Hospital.
A native of Hill AFB, Utah, he
was son of William Claude Hovis
of Cherryville and Betty Stamey of
Kings Mountain and was a brick
mason.
Surviving, in addition to his par-
ents, are one son, Michael James
Hovis of Lincolnton; one brother,
Rodney Hovis of Kings Mountain;
three sisters, Sheilah Bare, Candy
Hovis and Sabina Hovis Caskey,
all of Kings Mountain; and his ma-
ternal grandparent, Nannie Stamey
of Kings Mountain.
The funeral was conducted
Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Harris
Chapel. Rev. Roy Clark officiated.
Burial was in Mountain Rest
Cemetery.
MARY H. SCISM
Mary Hovis Scism, 86, of 133
Scism Rd., died February 21, 1993
at Cleveland Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County,
she was widow of Raymond P.
Scism. She was a homemaker and
a member of Patterson Grove
Baptist Church.
She was daughter of the late
Adam and Angeline Neal Hovis.
Surviving are five sons, Moffett
Scism, Nolan Scism, Bruce Scism,
Paul Scism, all of Kings Mountain,
and David Scism of Fort
Lauderdale, FL; and nine grand-
children.
The funeral was conducted
Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Patterson
Grove Baptist Church. Rev.
Richard Plyler and Rev. Jake
Thornburg officiated. Burial was in
the church cemetery.

PANSY R. BLACK
CROUSE - Pansy Reynolds
Black, 67, of 1439 George Brown
Rd., died February 19, 1993 at
home.
A native of Lincoln County, she
was the daughter of the late
Kings Mountain Weather | Report,

Reynolds. She was the widow of
Oscar Benson Black. She was a re-
tired supervisor for Gigi of The
Carolinas.
Surviving are one brother,
Charles Everette Reynolds of
Crousé; and two sisters, Mrs. Reba
Elmore and Mrs. Juanita Cagle of
Crouse.
The funeral was conducted
Sunday at 3 p.m. at Leonard's Fork
Baptist Church in Lincolnton. Rev.
Darrell Bost, Rev. Howard
Carrigan and Rev. Gaither Shrum
officiated. Burial was in the church
cemetery.

GASTONIA - Mrs. Anne
Crapps Morrison, 68, of 702
Honeywood Lane, died February
23, 1993 at Gaston Memorial
Hospital.
Widow of Luther Sidney
Morrison, she was a native of
Gastonia and the daughter of Harry
and Etta Mae Lowe Crapps. She
had retired after 27 years in retail
sales at the Stork Shop. She was a
volunteer at Gaston Memorial
Hospital and a charter member of
Brookleigh Baptist Church and an
active member and choir partici-
pant.
Surviving are her foster mother,
Eulalia Poindexter of Hickory; five
daughters, Beverly W. Williams of
Webster, Kathy W. Yung of Carver,
Mass., Jan W. Coleman, Harriett
W. Keller and Gale Morrison, all of
Gastonia, Pamela M. Edwards of
Kings Mountain; one son, Sidney
L. Morrison of Denver, Colorado;
two brothers, Dr. Robert Crapps of
Greenville, SC and Rev. Eddie
Crapps of Camden, SC; four sis-
ters, Joy Stroupe and Clarice Deitz,
both of Hickory, Dot Smith of
Hampton, VA and Betty Crapps of
Rock Hill, SC; 13 grandchildren;
and one great-grandchild.
The funeral will be conducted
Thursday at 3 p.m. at Brookleigh
Baptist Church. Rev. Richard
Hicks, Rev. Joe Owings, Rev.
George Tuthill and Walter Prescott
will officiate. Burial will be in
Gaston Memorial Park. ;
