JERRY BROADWELL
Broadwell named
to BB&T Board
FJ. "Jerry" Blackwell III has
been named to the City Board of
Branch Banking and Trust
Company in Kings Mountain. The
announcement was made by city
executive Glenn Anderson.
Broadwell is president of
Diversified Fabrics.
A native of Clinton, Broadwell
is a graduate of N.C. State
University and is a member of the
Kings Mountain Chamber of
Commerce and the North Carolina
Textile Manufacturers Association.
He attends Saint Matthews
Lutheran Church where he is chair- ;
man of the Boy Scout Committee.
He is married to Mary Leigh
Broadwell of Kings Mountain and
they have four children.
Three join staff
at Mental Health
Melissa Summer, Anne Short
and Susan Lovelace have joined
the professional staff of Cleveland
County Mental Health Center.
Summer is Employee Assistance
Program Director and is responsi-
ble for working with local busi-
nesses and industry management,
supervisory training, assessing em-
ployees and making appropriate re-
ferrals, and evaluating and provid-
ing feedback to businesses and
industries via statistical reports and
site visits.
Short is Community
Development Director. Her respon-
sibilities include design of local
prevention projects in collaboration
with other community resources,
planning and writing grants, and
coordinating new efforts to educate
the community about services and
results of the program.
Lovelace is a part-time Clerk
Typist III. Prior to joining the
Mental Health Center, she worked
with the Board of Elections.
Pizza Post opens
on Walker Street
Pizza Post has opened at 313
Walker Street in the building for-
merly occupied by Hungry
Howie's.
The new business features
homemade pizza, spaghetti, salad,
deli subs and lasagna.
William O'Neal, 28, and Allen
Busler, 34, are co-owners of the
new business. They also own and
operate a similar restaurant in
Gastonia.
Pizza Post is open from 4-10
p.m. Sunday through Thursday and
Friday and Saturday from 4-11
p.m. The business is closed on
Monday.
O'Neal said that free delivery is
offered in the Kings Mountain
area.
Two join staff
at CC College
Cleveland Community College
hired two new employees recently.
Housekeeping Supervisor Gene
Lail, native of Cleveland County,
resides in Kings Mountain with his
wife, Carolyn. He is a graduate of
Bethware High School and recent-
ly was a supervisor in the Research
and Development Department of
Doran Textiles.
Doug Lovelace, instructor in the
Industrial Management program, is
a native of Alabama. He earned his
degree in industrial engineering
from Auburn University and his
masters in Business Administration
from the University of Richmond.
He comes to Shelby from Allied
Signal Corporation in Hopewell,
VA. He has a daughter, Camille
Griffin, and a son, Murfce.
Remove flowers
from cemetery
Mountain Rest Cemetery Supt.
Dorus Bennett reminds that it's
time to clean up the cemetery for
Easter.
Bennett reminds that workers
are rcadying the cemetery grounds
for the traditional Easter Sunrisc
service. He asks families to remove
outdated flowers from graves.
