Mrs. Terria Willow McSwain
McSwain, 91, of 318 Wright Rd.,
died April 15, 1993 at Virginia
Beach General Hospital in Virginia
Beach; VA.. .
A native of Cleveland County,
she was a homemaker and widow
of Luther R. McSwain Sr. She was
daughter of the late William Berry
and Mary Justice McSwain. She
was a charter member of David
Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, Luther R.
McSwain Jr. of Kings Mountain;
two daughters, Euzela Vollbracht
of Kings Mountain and Theresa
Holt of Virginia Beach, VA; one
sister, Tency Bridges of Shelby; 11
grandchildren and 17 great-grand-
children.
The funeral was conducted
Sunday at 3 p.m. at David Baptist
Church. Rev. Claude McIntosh of-
ficiated. Burial was in Beaver Dam
Baptist Church Cemetery in
Shelby.
HELEN P. HOYLE
SHELBY - Mrs. Helen Poston
Hoyle, 73, of 315 Ford Street, died
April 17, 1993 at Cleveland
Memorial Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County,
she was the daughter of the late
John R. and Mary Beam Poston.
She was a homemaker and member
of First Baptist Church, Shelby,
where she was a teacher in the
Beginners Sunday School
Department for 18 years.
She is survived by her husband,
Hubert A. Hoyle of Shelby; two
sons, Jerry Hoyle of Kings
Mountain and Charles Hoyle of
Shelby; a daughter, Brenda Bost Jr.
of Hickory; two daughters-in-law,
Ann Evans Hoyle of Kings
Mountain and Jane Rabon Hoyle of
Shelby; a sister, Daisy Wise of
Shelby; and four grandchildren,
Kimberly Hoyle of Kings
Mountain, David Hoyle of Shelby,
and Melanie and Virginia Bost of
Hickory.
The funeral was conducted by
Dr. Gene Watterson Tuesday at 11
a.m. at Webb Chapel of First
Baptist Church, Shelby. Burial was
in Cleveland Memorial Park.

VERA HARDIN
BLACKSBURG, SC - Miss
Vera Hardin, 83, of 811 Antioch
Church Rd., died April 17, 1993 at
home.
A native of Cherokee County,
SC, she was a historian and retired
postal employee. She was daughter
of the late Monroe and Martha
Dillingham Hardin. She was a
member of Antioch Baptist
Church.
Surviving are three brothers,
Elmer Hardin and J. W. Hardin of
Kings Mountain and Marcus Byrd
Hardin of Rock Hill, SC.
The funeral was conducted
Monday at 2 p.m. at Antioch
Baptist Church. Rev. Vernon Craig
officiated. Burial was in Antioch
Baptist Church Cemetery.

GENEVA CHASE
Mrs. Geneva Ross Falls Chase,
79, of 400 E. Ridge St., died April
16, 1993 at Kings Mountain
Hospital.
A native of Cleveland County,
she was widow of D. M. Falls and
was daughter of the late Evans and |
Amanda Conner Ross. She was a
member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist
Church and a retired textile cm-
ployee.
Surviving are one son, Robert
Falls of Kings Mountain; one
brother, Lawrence Ross of Kings
Mountain; and four sisters, Ethel
Camp and Thelma Watterson, both
of Shelby, and Marcilla Falls and
Bessie Anderson, both of Kings
Mountain.
The funeral was conducted
Monday at 11 a.m. at Chestnut
Ridge Baptist Church. Rev.
Mitchell Pruitt officiated. Burial
was in Patterson Grove Baptist
Church Cemetery.
JOHN D. SHEPPARD
John Devaney Sheppard, 88, of
Northwood Nursing Care, died
April 15, 1993 at Northwood
Nursing Care in Shelby.
A native of Cleveland County,
he was husband of Edith Randall
Sheppard and was the son of the
late Charles Henderson and
Roxanna Dedmon Sheppard. He
was a former maintenance cmploy-
ce of the North Carolina
Department of Transportation in
Shelby and was a member of First
Baptist Church of Grover.
Surviving, in addition to his
wife, are four sons, Don Sheppard
and Harrill Sheppard of
Blacksburg, SC, Randy Sheppard
of Kings Mountain and Charlic
Sheppard of Shelby; two daugh-
ters, Carolyn S. Roberts of
Blacksburg and Frances S. Caveny
of Kings Mountain; 13 grandchil-
«dren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The graveside service was con-
ducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at Grover
Cemetery by Rev. Vernon Craig.

1993 at Athens Regional Medical
Center.
She was a member of Patterson
Grove Baptist Church in Kings
Mountain.
A native ol Cleveland County,
she was the daughter of the late
Lee and Lida Hamrick Thornburg.
She was widow of John Chambers.
Surviving arc three sons, Scott
Chambers of Winder and Greg
Chambers of Brasctton, GA;
daughters-in-law Pam and Linda;
scven grandchildren; four sisters,
Willodene Bell of Kings Mountain,
Ozcll Champion of Wilmington,
Flora Warren of West Palm Beach,

and one brother, Rev. J. J.
Thomburg of Sherrill Ford, NC.
The funcral was conducted April
18 at Smith's Chapel with the Rev.
J. J. Thornburg officiating. Burial
was in Athens Memorial Gardens.

ber of Elizabeth Baptist Church,
the Foothills Quilters Guild, and
the International Socicty of
Friendship and Goodwill.
She is survived by her husband,
Stanley J. Drake; three daughters,
