Page 12A-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, June 10, 1993 re rr rr Kings Mountain Police Report Two Kings Mountain businesses, Handy Pantry on Cleveland Avenue and Pizza Hut on US 74 and Spring Street, were robbed by suspects wielding hand guns last week. Kings Mountain Police arc in- vestigating the robberies. An undetermined amount of cash was taken by a white malc who demanded money by pointing a gun at a clerk about 1 a.m. June 1 at Handy Pantry on Clevcland Avenue The suspect is described as a white male five feet nine inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. The suspect was reportedly under the influence of alcohol and slurred his speech. He was reported to be clean shaven and wearing a white tee shirt and dark shorts. He was reportedly barefoot and approxi- mately age 28-32 with brown hair. He was reportedly holding a dan- gerous weapon. Saturday night at 12:17 p.m. a black male and a black female en- tered Pizza Hut as five employees were closing up for the night. Police said there no customers in- side the establishment at the time of the robbery. A clerk told police that one of the suspects held a gun and de- manded money from the cash drawer while the other suspect told all the other employees to lie down on the floor and taped their hands. The male suspect reportedly slapped the cashier and said, "That's to show you I mean busi- ness." The robbers are described as a black male five feet seven inches tall weighing 175 pounds and wearing a camouflage mask and blue sweat shirt and jeans. The black female was described as five feet five inches tall, weighing 160 pounds and wearing a blue stock- ing mask with a’ blue sweat shirt and jeans. She wore white socks and no shoes. The clerk in the Pizza Hut filled a pizza box with money some pay- roll checks as the robbers demand- ed No one was injured in either in- cident. Parker St., three orders for arrest for failure to comply for driving while li- cense revoked and DWI, $800 bond, secured. Gregory Dean Young, 26, Route 1, Box 66A, felony breaking and entering into Community Center, $1,000 bond, unsecured. : INCIDENTS Concrete Concepts, 508 N. City St., reported a break-in. Reported stolen were a tool box, nail bag and locks and clasps valued at $480. Consuelo Eugenia Goode, Melvin Court, Grover, reported that her car door was scraped with a blunt object. Herb Center, 507 E. King St., re- ported larceny of a $49.99 pocketbook. Little Dan's, York Rd., reported two incidents of larceny of $20.06 worth of gasoline. KM Express Store, King St., report- ed larceny of an undetermined amount of money. John Necessary, 209 Laws Lane, re- ported $500 damage to his 1984 Pontiac parked at Patrick Yarn Mill. A report of indecent exposure by a white male was reported by a citizen walking on the KM Walking Track. The suspect was described as age 25- 30 and wearing a black tee shirt, jeans and glasses. A newspaper box owned by the Charlotte Observer was reporiedly tak- en from Revco Drug Store at Country Club Drive. Two white juveniles were appre- hended and turned over to their parents and juvenile authorities. The two males allegedly damaged a car wash towel machine and a brick wall surrounding a money change machine at Reynolds Quick Shop. Damages were estimated at $500. Officers Billy Fredell James Camp, and Thomas Bell spotted a black male standing on the south side of the Community Center holding a piece of broken cement in his bleeding hand. The officers said the suspect allegedly threw a rock in a window at the Community Center and damaging two security windows. The suspect told po- lice he was trying to catch two while CD LI > SS v1 CD BS males he saw break into the building. Christ the King Mission, 714 Stone St., reported theft of a $159 microwave oven, $325 television st and $325 VCR and damaged a downstairs conference room. Sheryl Myers, 1308 Northwoods, re- ported that her 1988 Ford was dam- aged with a sharp instrument in the parking lot of Ruppe Hosiery. Tony Stewart, 229 Farris Rd., said his 1988 Cadillac was parked at Kings Mountain High School and the rear quarter window shattered. Little Dan's, York Road, said a cus- tomer pumped gas and left with the hose in his tank. Damage was $100. Jason Leigh reported that his Honda was broken into and a $1200 stereo system stolen. The car was parked at Kings Mountain High School. Glenda Downey, 900 Rhodes Ave., said a rear latch on a window of her '91 Mazda was damaged while parked at Kings Mountain High School. WRECKS MAY 31 Ptl. Billy Fredell charged Thomas Arthur Anthony Jr. with failure to re- duce speed and Bryson Andrew Self with no operator's license after they hit at a traffic light on King Street. Anthony was driving a 1983 Ford that struck the Self 1989 Nissan in the rear. Damages to the Self car were $1500. JUNE 1 Pil. T. B. Fletcher charged Lawson Mitchem, 403 Gantt St., with DWI and driving while license revoked after an accident on North Cansler at Morris Street. Fletcher said the 1984 Chevrolet jumped the curb at the cor- ner of N. Cansler and Morris Street and ran up a guide wire of a power pole, suspending the vehicle in the air. The driver was not hurt and the vehicle was not damaged but the guide war was damaged $250. Ptl. M .E. Proctor charged Linda Gail Heavner with red light violation after a two car accident at Cansler and West Gold Street. Proctor said a wit- ness, who swerved his car to miss the collision, said that a 1989 Ford operat- ed by Lisa Herndon Leach, 712 Sandhurst Drive, was struck in the side by a 1984 Chevrolet operated by Heavner, 410 Patriots Way, Clover, S.C. Heavner was treated at the hospi- tal. The vehicles were damaged $4500. JUNE 2 Leo Bellamy Jr., 180 Pat Court, told Ptl. D. Garris that he was trying to pull into a parking space at McDonald's and his right front bumper struck a parked car owned by Brenda Jimmerson, 142- 3 Ebenezer Rd., doing $250 damage. Cars operated by Angel Fowler, 111 Wildbrooke Dr., and Sandra Ellis, 200 Parrish Dr., hit on King Street at the entrance to Hardee's. Sgt. Mark Simpson estimated damages at $4,000 and said that Ellis and five-year-old Melissa Ellis complained of injuries. Ptl. Chris Owens charged William Atchley Mynatt of Asheville with stop- light violation after a wreck at King and Railroad Avenue. Vehicles operat- ed by Mynatt and Jackie Keener, Knightdale, hit at the intersection. Two people were taken to the hospital for treatment. The cars were damaged $5300. JUNE 3 Ptl. D. Garris said a 1993 Chevrolet owned by the U.S. Government and operated by Andrew Loveless of the National Park Service bumped a 1993 Ford owned by Wade Tyner Jr., 910 Shelby Rd., at the Country Club park- ing lot. Damages were estimated at $850. Ptl.. Chris Owens said a 1990 Accura operated by David Ronald McDaniel, 1401 Merrimont Ave., struck a 1985 Nissan operated by Shellie Philbeck, 12101 SS. Battleground Ave., at East King and Piedmont Avenue doing $415 damage. JUNE 4 Ptl R. K. Rikard said that cars oper- ated by a 16-year-old driver and Kay Camp Randle, of Grover, hit on Phifer Road. Damages were estimated at $3,000 to the 1992 VW owned by Mary C. Hill, 1306 Northwoods Dr., and $200 to the Randle 1990 Lincoln. Rikard said a 1985 Mercury operat- ed by Janice Hughes Smith, 108 C Curry Rd., struck a 1987 Ford operated 1 by Bernice McClain, 204 N. Cansler St., on York Road. Damages were esti- mated at $700. A hit and run driver struck a 1992 Ford operated by Larry Ray Barnes, Colonial Dr. Cherryville, doing $150. The accident occurred at York Road and King Street.
