A native of Blacksburg, SC, she was the widow of Bobbie W. Rhea and was daughter of the late Cleveland and Katheleen Bailey Rhea. An active member of the First Presbyterian Church, she served for 30 years in the church nursery and was Circle 2 chairman. She was District 23 Vice-President of the American Legion Auxiliary and a member of Unit 155 of Kings Mountain. She was honored as Unit Member of the Year for North Carolina. She was ‘employed by Clevemont Mills as a quality con- trol inspector. Surviving are two sons, Ronald Rhea of Charlotte and David Rhea of Columbia, SC; two daughters, Kathy Bumgardner of Gastonia and Barbara Hoke of Lugoff, SC; three brothers, Robert C. Moore and Rick Moore, both of Kings Mountain, and J. C. Moore of Gaffney, SC; six sisters, Marcia Chastain, Sarah Mullinax, Doris Wells, Virginia Bumgardner and Brenda Sellers, all of Kings Mountain, and Sheila Tucker of Blacksburg, SC; and four grand- children. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. Rev. Gary Bryant, former pastor, and Rev. Donald Mitchell will officiate. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. King St., Kings Mountain, 28086. a JULIA PETERSON FOREST CITY - Julia Mae Edwards Peterson, 82, died July 13, 1993 at Edgewood Nursing Center. A native of Mitchell County, she was a homemaker and a member of Rutherfordton Church of God. Surviving are one son, Rev. C. L. Peterson of Ellenboro; one daughter, Mrs. Lois Watts of Kings Mountain; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Church of God in Forest City. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery in Kings Mountain. EDITH B. GAULT Edith Bennett Gault, 84, of 112 N. Deal St., died July 9, 1993 at home. A native of Gaston County, she was a homemaker and widow of Boyce H. Gault. She was daughter of the late Joseph Wilson and Regina Lynch Bennett. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, Boyce H. Gault Jr. ‘of Jacksonville, FL; one daughter, Elaine Phifer of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren; and one sister, Inez Ellis of Grover. The funeral was conducted Sunday at 2 pm.at First Baptist Church. Rev. John Sloan officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. SHERMAN JOHN WRIGHT Sherman John Wright, 72, of 1321 S. Battleground Ave., died July 8, 1993 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was a retired carpenter and son of the late Earnest and Junie Dellinger Wright. He was married to the late Marie Davis Wright. He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church. Surviving are one daughter, Jean Dixon of Gastonia; one brother, Esper Wright of Gastonia; one sis- ter, Fannie Cobb of Kings Mountain; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Sunday at 2 p. m. at Harris Chapel. Rev. Harold Beam officiated. Burial was in Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery. HETTY COX MYRTLE BEACH, SC - Hetty Howard Cox, 59, died July 9, 1993 at Grand Strand General Hospital. A native of Columbus, GA, she was born June 27, 1934. She was the wife of Robert G. "Bob" Cox and daughter-in-law of the late Frank and Mildred Cox of Kings Mountain. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two daughters, Hetty H. Turkle of Conyers, GA and Catherine M. Cox of Durham; two sons, Robert G. Cox Jr. of Greensboro and Capt. Benjamin FE Cox of Fort Knox, KY; two broth- ers, William E. Howard of Melbourne, FL and Francis E. Howard Jr. of Virginia Beach, VA; and six grandchildren. She was active in the community in Scouting, Little Theater, Woman's Club, Crafters Guild, Eastern Star, White Shrine of Jerusalem and Hillbilly Clan 13. The graveside service was con- ducted Wednesday at Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church in Greensboro. LEONARD TARBUSH Leonard Earl Tarbush, 48, of 715 Landing St., died July 6, 1993 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late George L. and Pearline Wilkie Head Tarbush. Surviving are two sons, James Tarbush of Fort Bragg and Kenneth Tarbush of Fort Jackson, SC; one brother, George Lee Tarbush of Kings Mountain; one sister, Priscilla Jackson of Ellenboro; and two grandchildren. A native of Jackson County, GA, ‘he was a retired textile employee and farmer. He was married to Christine Church Evans and was the son of the late A. T. and Mary Lankford Evans. He was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, James E. Evans and Bobby G. Evans of Grover and Lewis F. Evans of Bessemer City; one daughter, Ruth E.
