Pic and Pay reported larceny of two pairs of shoes. The suspect is described as a black male, about 25, heavy built with black short curly hair. Charles Bowen, 909 First Street, re- ported a lost or stolen automobile tag. Laverne Glover, 110 N. Cansler St., reported $25 damage to a glass-topped table in her home. Ronnie Dale Moore, Alexandria, VA, reported theft of his wallet from his automobile parked at Kingswood Apartments. Sarah Owensby, 316 Somerset Dr., reported larceny of a 26-inch girls’ Mountain bike valued at $130. The Pantry, 511 Linwood Road, re- ported larceny of cigarettes valued at $1.90. A suspect was arrested. Silver Express, King St., larceny of $13.22 in gasoline. A juvenile girl reported that she was walking on North Cansler Street and two black males, about 16 and 20, took a necklace from her. Teresa Mayhew, 304 Waco Rd., re- ported larceny of $60. John Heath, 304 Waco Rd. reported theft of a $400 Craftsman Air Compressor. Benjamin Foster, 222 Thornburg Dr., reported damage to a door panel. Handy Pantry, Cleveland Ave., re- ported larceny of cigarettes. Two ‘sus- pects were arrested after a foot chase by police. Talmadge Ellis, Northwoods Dr., re- ported that a dog jumped in his swim- ming pool and damaged the liner $2,000. Handy Pantry, Cleveland Ave. reported larceny of $5 in gas and one package of cigarettes. reported WRECKS SEPTEMBER 2 A hit and run accident at Eckerd Drug Store parking lot involved a 1985 Olds owned by Virginia R. Wolk, 331 Oak Grove Road. The car was dam- aged $175 by a driver who left the scene, according to Ptl. Bob Myers. SEPTEMBER 6 Sgt. James Camp said that a 1983 Buick operated by Ralph Smith III, 84 Pine Manor, left the road and hit a mailbox and post on North Piedmont avenue doing $750 damage. Smith said he was tightening a seat belt for his daughter and he looked back to the road and the car wag in the ditch. SEPTEMBER 7 A 1987 Ford operated by Sandra McClain Odems, 108 Hillway Dr., .rear-ended a 1993 Chrysler operated by Jimmie Whitesides Crouch, Route 6, Gastonia, on East King Street. Ptl. Lisa Capps estimated damages at $2400. Ptl. Lisa Capps said a 1985 Olds op- erated by a 17-year-old student struck a 1987 Mazda truck operated by Gary M. Yarboro, Jr., 19, of 404 Meadow Lane, in the parking lot of Kings Mountain High School. Damages were estimated at $400. SEPTEMBER 9 Police charged Jonathan David Hammons with hit and run after an ac- cident in the parking lot at The Pantry on Phifer Road. Hammons was report- edly driving a 1984 Pontiac which backed from a parking space and hit a BP gas pump and trash can. Damages were estimated at $1500 to the gas pump and trash can and $175 to the car. : SEPTEMBER 11 Police charged Destry Lavon Riccard, 1501 Northwoods, with hit and run property damage, DWI, no op- erator’s license, reckless driving and speeding to elude arrest after he jumped from his car on Cleveland Avenue after almost hitting a city po- lice car and striking a vehicle operated by Steven Mark Wise, Kiser Road, Bessemer City. Ptl. Don Martin said that the Riccard 1979 Datsun, owned by Jerry Lee Hill Jr. of Gastonia, was fleeing from a police patrol car operat- ed by Sgt. Johnson on Cleveland Avenue. The Riccard car passed a vehi- cle on the left, missed the patrol car at the intersection of Cleveland and King and skidded and struck the Wise car. The accident happened at 1:30 am . The intense training session f[o- cused on grade crossing collision Kings Mountain Express robbed A black male with a white hand- - kerchief over his mouth and nose robbed Kings Mountain Express of an undetermined amount of cash shortly after midnight on September Sth. "I want all your money," the rob- ber told the clerk in the King Street convenience store. The clerk opened the cash drawer and the robber grabbed a handful of bills The robber was armed with a weapon in his right hand, said po- lice. The suspect is described as a black male in his late 30's, six feet tall, with short hair and a receding hairline. He wore gray dress pants and a blue shirt. Persons with information about the robbery should call Sgt. Billy Benton at the Kings Mountain investigation for law enforcement officers, highway patrol and fire and rescue personnel from across North Carolina and was held in Asheville at Quality Inn Biltmore and Norfolk Southern Rail Yard.
