Rev. Richard Brantley
Newsome, 30, has accepted the call
of First Presbyterian Church and
will assume his new pastorate du-
ties January 1. :
Newsome, who has served for
three years as Associate Pastor of
Spring Hill Presbyterian Church in
Mobile, Alabama, is a graduate of
Vanderbilt University and

dren, Burns, two; and Sarah
Elizabeth, four months. He is the
son of Dr. and Mrs. James
Newsome. Dr. Newsome teaches
Old Testament Studies at Columbia
Seminary in Decatur, GA.
The local congregation will be
the first full-time pastorate for
Newsome. For the past year Dr.
Donald Mitchell has served as in-
terim pastor since the resignation
of Dr. Eric Faust, who moved to
Clarksburg, West Virginia as pastor
of the Presbyterian Church of
Clarksburg.

at St. Michael's Parish in Gastonia
sponsored by Confracernity of
Christian Women of St. Michael's
Church.

The popular services, to which
the public is invited, are held annu-
ally at different host churches and
each minister takes a turn leading
the united congregations in a hymn
sing, worship and communion.

have two children, Zach and Sara.
Bardsley has had four pastoral
charges since 1981. He has been at
Kings Mountain First Wesleyan
since July 1989.

‘There will be a special gospel
singing Sunday, October 3 at 6
p.m. at Pathway Baptist Church,
located on Parkdale Circle in Kings
Mountain.
The featured group will be The
Ambassadors from Rock Hill, S.C.
Rev. James Hamrick, pastor, in-

lowship hour and refreshment time
after the service and provide a
nursery. A special offering will be
taken at each service which will go
to the Midwest Flood Relief.

1983, he was ordained and com-
