RISA same a MARY RUTH BRIDGES Bridges-Etters Mr. and Mrs. Clyde J. Bridges Jr. announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary Ruth, to K. G. Etters, son of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Etters. Both families are of Kings Mountain. Miss Bridges is a 1987 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1992 Cum Laude graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. At UNCC, she was a member of the National Social Workers Club and The Golden Key Honor Society. She is employed as a social Inc. in Gastonia. worker at Rutherford/Polk Mental Health Center in Spindale. The bridegroom-to-be is a 1982 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and attended Gaston College. He is employed at Rhonc-Poulene The wedding will be an event of December 4. Shad Clark receives Grover scholarship Shad Mason Clark has been named the first recipient of the $250 Greater Grover Area Women's Club scholarship. Clark is enrolled at Gaston College. Clark graduated from Kings Mountain High School Tast May. He plans to pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering. He plans to transfer to UNC-Charlotte to at- tain a BS degree. The Greater Grover Women's Club began its scholarship program to help a high school senior accom- plish his or her career goals. Requirements include living within * a three-mile radius of Grover Town Hall, financial need; academic per- formance, extra curricular activi- ties, and community service. Seven seniors applied for the scholarship. Clark is the son of Aaron and Sandra Clark of Spring Acres. His sister, Jada, is a student at Kings Mountain Middle School. Clark's extra curricular activities include helping with the senior play and activities in his church SHAD CLARK youth group. Evelyn Willis, president of the Greater Grover Women's Club, made the announcement of Clark's selection to the club, and he was honored at the awards ceremony at KMHS. William Hart Wells serves as page in N.C. Senate William Hart Wells of Kings Mountain recently spent a week serving as Page for Senator Ollie Harris in the North Carolina Senate. : While in Raleigh, Wells heard much debate on the state lottery and state budget. Wells is the son of Betsy and Steve Wells of the Dixon Community. He is the grandson of Lucy Wells and the late Harold Wells of the Dixon Community and Mr. and Mrs. Lester Hart of the Lansing Community in Ashe County. He is a junior at Kings Mountain High School where he pays varsity football, runs track, sings. in the Chorale, performs in the musicals, and plays the guitar. His brother, Brett, is a freshman at KMHS, and his sister, Kellene Wells Mize, is in graduate school at Appalachian State University. Also this summer, Wells was in- formed of his having been selected to Who's Who Among American High School Students.
