Cansler St., died January 14, 1994 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Cleveland County, he was owner of Leigh Auto Service. He was married to Jewel Baker Leigh and was the son of the late Martin and Canses Harmon Leigh. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, James B. Leigh of Blacksburg, SC; one brother, William Leigh of Shelby; five sisters, Eva Moss, Irene Barnette, Elizabeth McDaniel, Lucy Lockridge and Betty Jo Carroll, all of Klings Mountain; and two grand- children, Baker and Paige Leigh of Blacksburg, SC. The funeral was conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Rev. John Futterer officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. CARVER Wylie Eddleman Carver, 75, of B: Route 1, Costner School Road, Bessemer City, died January 13, 1994 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Gaston County, he was married to Mary Kate Matthews Carver and was the son of the late Baxter Jerome and Nina Warren Carver. He had retired from Threads, Inc. after 21 years of ser- vice. He was a member, deacon and = Men's Bible Class teacher in Long Creek Presbyterian Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one one son, Matthew Jerome Carver of the home; two daughters, Cheryl Berry of Kings Mountain and Nina Cleveland of Bessemer City; one brother, Walter Carver of York, SC; one sister, Mildred Owens of Clover, SC; and five grandchildren, Christina and Rebecca Berry and Christopher and Darrell Edward Carver. Edward McClain of Charlotte, Clarence Ashe and Alfred Ashe, both of Gastonia, and Douglas McClain, Joe McClain and Rev. James McClain, all of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Nancy Freeman and Mattie Wade, both of Charlotte, and Betty Strickland of Kings Mountain; and eight grandchildren. RONALD EUGENE SHORT Ronald Eugene Short, 45, of Chestnut Ridge Rd., died January 12, 1994 at Carolinas Medical Center. A native of Cleveland County, he was married to Judy Berry Short and was the son of the late Mills and Carrie Fredell Short. He was employed by Diversified Machine in Dallas. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Cherryville. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are three sons, Ronnie E. Short IIT of Kings Mountain and Jerry E. Berry II and Rodney Brell Berry of Blacksburg, SC; one daughter, Patricia Darlene Short of Bessemer City; five brothers, Bobby Short, Harold Short, Jackie Short, Vernon Short and Ricky Short, all of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Mary Mull, Geraldine Mull and Gail Short, all of Kings ° Mountain; and two grandchildren. SCISM Pearl Foster Scism, 88, died January 16, 1994 at White Oak Manor. A native of Cleveland County, she was a homemaker and widow of Gettys B. Scism. She was the daughter of the late John L. and Ida Jane Sanders Foster. She was a member of Patterson Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are two sons, Miles Scism and Gene Scism of Kings Mountain; one daughter, Sue Hughes of Greenville, SC; one sis- ter, Clara Ruth Edwards of Kings Mountain; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. MOORE Nellie Barnett Moore, 73, of 139 Ark St., died January 14, 1994 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Kings Mountain, she was married to Howard Moore. She was the daughter of the late Neal and Jossie Bobbitt Barnett and was a retired textile winder. She was a member of Second Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to ther husband, are two sons, Steve Moore and Ronnie Moore of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Kathy Davis and Beverly Inman of Kings Mountain; one brother, Carl Barnett of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Barbara Barnett and Mary Lou Barnett of Kings Mountain;10 grandchildren and 15 great-grand- children. Doyle Black, who joined Spectrum on October 30, 1974 as a crew leader, heads a staff of 17 people who are responsible for the upkeep of the building and all the machinery in the big Kings Mountain plant. Black, a Kings Mountain native, says his work is a real challenge but that he has a good employer and good people working with him. Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Black of Kings Mountain, he graduated from Kings Mountain High School in 1962 after attend- ing Dixon Elementary and Grover School.
