a > GWU offers senior adult programs BOILING SPRINGS - The College tor Senior Adults at Gardner-Webb University, a learn- ing program for those 55 years of age and older, has scheduled a new slate of classes to begin in February. There is no charge for member- ship this semester and participants may join in the classes at their con- venience. The first offering, "An Examination of Current World Affairs from the Viewpoint of a Russian Scholar,” is held on Mondays from 10-11 a.m. in Elliott KM students on CCC list Area students were selected to the Dean's List for the fall quarter at Cleveland Community College. Students who take 12 or more quarter hours and achieve a grade point average of 3.5 are selected. Area students named were Eric Glenn Callahan, Dawn Woodard Dawkins and Dharmesh Narhari Patel of Grover, and Selma R. Epps, John Howard Hill, Stephanie Lynn Jones, Henry Page Laugisch, Pamela Renec Martin, Cathy Rayfield Patterson, Kevin Shawn Wease, and Teresa Michelle Young of Kings Mountain. KM students earn degrees at Winthrop 303 on the GWU campus. "Once Upon a Memory" will be held at the Senior Center in Shelby on Feb. 10, 17, 24 and March 3. HB Dr. and Mrs. Gene Washburn of Boiling Springs have established the Anthony Eastman Endowed Scholarship Fund at GWU in honor of the GWU history professor. The scholarship will be awarded to stu- dents who display exemplary aca- demic standing. BM The GWU School of Divinity has announced the establishment of the Underwood-Watson Endowed School of Divinity Scholarship by Rev. and Mr. James A. Pittman of Roanoke Rapids. The scholarship was begun with a $100,000 pledge from the Pittmans and will be for aspiring Baptist ministers to re- ceive the best possible seminary education in a positive Christian environment.
