Assembly in Raleigh. ; David Teddy, Democratic candi- . date for the 37th district North ~ Carolina Senate set, and his wife, Sally Teddy, were in Raleigh re- cently at the State Legislature. Teddy, whose district covers Rutherford County and most of Cleveland County, paid a visit to Senator Ollie Harris, the incumbent of the district, who is stepping down at the end of his current term. During lunch, Senator Harris ad- vised Teddy to "get out and hit the streets and let folks know who you are." As SEnator Harris led Teddy on a tour of the Senate Chamber, they discussed some of the issues that will top the Senate primary in the 37th district. "I feel it's important for me to acknowledge Senator Harris's 44 years of service to the people of the 37th district," said Teddy. Senator David Hoyle (25th) intro- duced Teddy to Office of the President Pro Tempore, Marc Basnight. Teddy broached several . issues with his hosts, including crime and punishment, education, gun control, lottery, and Governor veto. "I really appreciate the time the legislators spent with me, and all the advice that they offered," said Teddy. Later that afternoon, Teddy and his wife sat in the gallery during the Senate session, and were recog- nized by Senate President Dennis Wicker. A short time later, the Senate passed the bill to increase the prison cap in North Carolina by a vote of 42-0. Lion Johnny Reavis, Chairman of the club's Campaign Sightfirst, said that the event will have two purposes: to inform the community about Campaign Sightfirst and to enlist support for it. Cost of the book is Shrinettes meet at Masonic Hall Shrinettes of White Plains Shrine Club held the first meeting of the new year February 10 at Masonic Hall. Ten members attended.
