Family Outings set at First BC Have you ever planned the per- fect vacation for your family only to see those plans end in chaos? That idea is the backdrop for the new production, "Family Outings," which will be presented this week- end by the Kingdom Players Drama team of First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain. Jim Bailey decides to take his family on a family outing to re- solve conflicts and create unity in his family. His outing consists of visiting a newly purchased sight- unseen cabin and unbeknown to the rest of the family, that's when the problems really begin. The community is encouraged to join this outing to view the troubles facing families today and hopefully find some solutions. The produc- tion is filled with laughter, tears, and wonderful songs. It marks the first attempt at directing by a for- mer Kingdom player, Greg Williams. Williams is a recent graduate of Liberty University and was involved with performing groups while in college. Author Paul McCusker says of the musical, "...my desire was’ to write a program that took an un- compromising look a the problems that can tear a family apart and the work it takes to hold it together. No pat answers, no pie-in-the-sky so- lutions. No cute bows tying every- thing up at the end. I wanted the hard realities of life combined with the hope of personal change only Christ can bring through obedient hearts. Easy to say, harder to do. But that's the challenge for all of us." "Family Outings" will be per- formed in the fellowship hall on Saturday and Sunday at 7 p.m. The performance is free, but a love of- fering will be received to help with expenses. Call 739-3651 for infor- mation. Staleups honored by congregation Rev. and Mrs. Oscar Stalcup were honored for their 13 years of service to Kings Mountain's Foursquare Gospel Church follow- ing worship services Sunday mom- ing. The Stalcups were guests of honor at a church luncheon in the fellowship hall. They were also given flowers and a love offering. "I am not superstitious," Rev. Stalcup said, "but I have stated to the church and I state publicly that I am glad the 13th year is over. It has been one of the most challenging and difficult years I have experienced in my ministry." he entire congregation gathered at the altar at the close of the wor- ship service and pledged their com- mittment to God and each other as they look toward a challenging 1994. "We are very grateful to the con- gregation for their support, backing and love through the years," Rev. Stalcup said. "The congregation is the wind beneath my wings and has Rept me flying and kept us in the ministry these past 13 years."
