The family lost its in- surance when the mother lost her job. Proceeds from the sale will go to help purchase groceries and other necessities. Ordinares to play for Grover dance The Ordinares will play for a Friday night dance at Grover Rescue Squad Building. Adults are invited to attend and take finger foods for refreshments. The public is invited from 7-10 pm. Special fund to help Yarboro Friends of Ken Yarboro have opened a special fund at Home Federal Savings Bank, 700 West King St., to help defray costs of his medical expenses. Yarboro was burned over 26 per- cent of his body last week while trying to light a large gas grill at a cookout for sheriff's candidate Dan Crawford at the National Guard Armory. ~ Donations should be made payable to Ken Yarboro Fund and mailed to the bank. Free health fair at Wesleyan church A free Health Care Fair for se- nior citizens of the Kings Mountain area, Cherryville, Waco, Grover and Earl will be held May 17 from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Kings Mountain's East Gold Street Wesleyan Church. The fair is sponsored by the Cleveland County Council on Aging/Senior Center. A $15 dona- tion is requested for the SMA-12 blood profile. Appointments can be made with the Health Department for pap smears. Conducting the screenings will be: blood pressure, local volun- teers; height/weight, Total Care Inc.; vision/glaucoma, Edelman Eye Center; urinalysis, local volun- teers; anemia/diabetes, Cleveland County Health Department; SMA blood profile, Cleveland Memorial Hospital; tetanus, Cleveland Home Health; foot screening, Carolina Foot Care; and hearing, Griffin Professional Hearing Aid Center and Miracle Ear Center. Tourism Week set next week Next week is National Tourism Week and the North Carolina Welcome Center on I-85 near Kings Mountain will be giving spe-, cial emphasis on May 6. Janet L. Fulton, manager, said the travel industry within a three- county area will take local crafts- men, foods and artisans to the Welcome Center Friday, May 6 to give the travelers coming into North Carolina a look at what this state has to offer in the "out of the way" places of the small towns so often overlooked in the travel brochures. "With a struggling economy it is very important to the travel indus- try to ban together to keep tourism. alive on Interstate 85 and create a greater awareness of what our local counties and communities can offer the travelers passing though the state on their way to large cities and bigger places," says Mrs. Fulton. Support group to meet Monday Gaston Memorial Hospital's sup- port group for patients with Parkinson's disease and their fami- lies will meet Monday at 6:30 p.m. in classrooms 1 and 2 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. Parkinson's disease is a neuro- logical condition of unknown ori- gin that may cause shaking of hands, slowness in movement, walking difficulty and memory problems. Aging Council ° plans activities The Cleveland County Council on Aging will sponsor a trip to Atlanta for an Atlanta Braves ball game Tuesday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 8. The overnight trip includes two games. Saturday sale to benefit needy family AUDREY SHORE Audrey Shore celebrates birthday Audrey Elizabeth Shore cele- brated her fourth birthday March 30 and was honored at two parties. A Pre-School party was enjoyed by the children playing games in an Easter theme. A bunny rabbit cake was served with ice cream and punch. A family party included an Easter Egg hunt and and 'pin the tail' on a large Easter bunny. Party favors were Easter baskets filled with bunnies and Easter eggs. Audrey is the daughter of Robin and Hoyt Shore Jr. of Charlotte and granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Hoyt Shore Sr. and Audrey Dickey of Kings Mountain and the late Jim Dickey. Crowders Mountain activities planned Crowders Mountain State Park has scheduled a night hike for Saturday, April 30 at 8 p.m. Participants should meet at the park office and join in the hike led by a park volunteer and explore what nocturnal wildlife roams the parking after closing. Wear sturdy walking shoes. The hike will last 60 to 90 minutes and is limited to 20 people. Call the park at 853-5375 for reservations.
