JAMES WILLIAM LOVELACE ...honored on Golden Wedding Day Lovelaces honored April 10 on their Golden Wedding Day Bill and Barbara Lovelace of Grover were honored on their 50th wed- ding anniversary April 10 at a reception at the Fellowship Center of Bethany Baptist Church in Grover. Hosts were their son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Brenda Lovelace; and their grandchildren, Todd and Erin Lovelace. Seventy guests called between 2-4 p.m. The golden anniversary theme was carried out in decorative details. The Lovelaces were married April 8, 1944. The family also includes a great-granddaughter, Arron Lovelace. MR. AND MRS. All other screenings are free. Sarazens to lead fund drive for arts Dr. and Mrs. Paul M. Sarazen Jr. of Shelby are co-chairing a cam- paign to raise $75,000 in fiscal 1993-94 and 1994-95 operating funds from corporate and private sources for the Cleveland County Arts Council. The council is a non-profit um- brella organization for 22 local arts and arts-related groups and has de- veloped an extensive arts-in-educa- tion outreach. The fund-raising campaign is re- quired to meet increase program, staffing and operating expenses. The increased expenses are associ- ated largely with the acquisition through the county and the city 18 months ago of the present Arts Center building, the former U.S. Post Office structure in uptown Shelby. Hospice campaign reaches $1 million Over 30 volunteer telemarketers spent three days last week calling over 2,000 are businesses and indi- viduals. Cleveland County re- sponded with over $45,000 in addi- tional pledges toward the new facility to be built on Joe Rod. Over 400 pledges have been re- ceived to date and the $1,2 million goal is in sight. Hospice's mission, is to serve Cleveland County's ter- minally ill and their families. The bride's floral, tea-length wedding gown was white with bursts of burgundy roses. It was made of a chintz material with a dropped waist, Sweetheart neckline and Princess sleeves. Both her detachable train, adorned with bow and burgundy rosettes, and draped overskirt were of matching lace. Her accessories included a matching white lace hat, gloves and parasol. She carried a white basket of flowers and a Mother-of-Pearl wedding Bible, a gift from from the Holy Land from her parents. The couple's pastor, Rev. John W. Sloan Jr., of First Baptist Church, per- formed the ceremony. The bridegroom's brother, Jim Belt, sang "These Vows Go Unbroken.” The bride's brother, Rick Plumley of Goldsboro, and the bridegroom's brother, Bill Belt of Dallas, seated the guests. The bride's sister-in-law, Ann Plumley of Goldsboro, kept the register. Ann Tate, a friend of the bride's family, directed the wedding. The gazebo was decorated with white magnolias and swags, a white candelabra and numerous discus trees with white lights. The reception was held after the ceremony in the large shelter above the gazebo. A white wedding cake was topped with a wedding couple in a gazebo and fresh flowers.
