KM to have Tour of Homes in '95
I'he Kings Mountain Tour of
Homes committee has set April 29,
1995 as the date tor what they hope
will be an annual event for the
community.
"It's a dream come true. I'm very
excited about it.” says Margaret
Pearson, chairman of next year's
event.
The tour of homes will be held
to raise money for the Diabetes
Association whose director, Terry
Brown. has offered the guidance
and support needed for the project's
SUCCESS.
“This charity has been important
to me for many years since my
husband and 1 both have family
members with diafetes,” said
Brown.
"Everyone I've talked to about
serving as committee chairmen
have been so enthusiastic and full
of ideas.” said Pearson. "And the
families who have opened their
homes as part of the tour have been
most gracious.”
The tour will feature the follow-
ing homes:
201 North Piedmont Ave., the
home of Jerry and Diane Barrett.
203 North Piedmont Ave., the
home of Hubert and Rita Toney.
204 North Piedmont Ave., the
home of Roy Jr. and Melva
Huffstetler.
204 North Piedmont Ave., the
home of Roy Sr. and Doris
Huffstetler.
108 North Piedmont Avenue, the
home of Butch Jr. and Margaret
Pearson.

Also included will be a display
of the artifacts that have been col-
lected for several years and are
presently stored over the Kings
Mountain Fire Department.
‘Pat Plonk, president of the Kings
Mountain Historical Society, has
agreed to assist Mary Neisler as
co-chairmen of the project.
"I think the whole town will
want to be a part of this event.
How fortunate we are to live in
such a beautiful and historic city,"
said Pearson.

Reunions Planned
- Veterans who were stationed in
Blackpool, England during World
War II are invited to a reunion in
June 1995 and visit to the old Air -
Base in Warton.

1974 is of the older homes in town,
Pearson predicts that future tours
will encompass all neighborhoods
in Kings Mountain, including Moss
Lake.
"We're open to suggestions and
the possibilities are unlimited,”
said Pearson.
The tour committee chairmen
will be asking local banks and
businesses for contributions of
time and money.
"We know we will have a great
event with the public's coopera-
tion," said Pearson.

The American Legion Auxiliary
will sponsor a free educational
seminar Thursday =. which
may answer some of th ques-
tions in a program entitled, “Living
Safely In A Dangerous World."
The program is free to the public
and will feature a group from
Charlotte called "Citizens Against
Crime." The program will start at 7
p.m. at the American Legion
Building and will also make avail-
able to the public tear gas spray,
call police signs and security alarm
stickers.
"The Citizens Against Crime"
program has been featured on CNN
in connection with a television se-
ries on "Crime In The Workplace."
Light refreshments will be
served after the program.

Mr. and Mrs. Marriott D. Phifer Sr. of Kings Mountain announce the en-
gagement of their daughter, Connie Marie, to James Ray Savell Sr., of
Charlotte, son of Mrs. Sally Savell of Shreveport, La. and the late Jimmie
T. Savell.
Miss Phifer is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and Erskine
College. She is a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and the North Carolina
Association of Educators. She is employed by Kings Mountain District
Schools.
The bridegroom-to-be is a graduate of Wodlawn High School and
Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, La. He is employed by
Ringier America in Charlotte.
The wedding will be an event of July 23.
