It could have been your son or my daughter coming into view as “Pomp and
Circumstance” regally accompanied the winding walk to those appointed places on
that sunny Saturday in May. Their scattered tears could have been those of joy,
nervous anticipation of the future, the approaching loneliness for roommates and
friends of four years, or all of those. =
“Now you may turn your tassels.” As each hand touched the mortarboard, the
world was about to become a reality. Each candidate for graduation was about to
receive that coveted diploma complete with all its “rights and responsibilities”
Yes, it could have been your son or my daughter. This time, it was my daughter.
The blossom had shown its true colors and proved to be beautiful. As you worship
this Sabbath, please pray for her and for each of our graduates as they turn their
tassels into reality.
