From its origin as a high school, a new day and identity has dawned at Boiling Springs where Gardner-Webb now wears the distinctive designa- {on as a university, A surge of activity that in- cludes new programs has bol- stered enrollment to a record high of 2.400. a 14 percent gain over the previous year. And now, the university is poised for a run into the Twenty First Century. Its elevation to university sta- tus became the catalyst for an era of outstanding growth and curriculum development. The addition of a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in 1993 drew 75 stu- dents into the program. In the current semester, that number doubled to 150. University officials say along with the MBA program, elec- tives are offered in International Financeiaand International Marketing, Entrepreneurial Management, Management Information Systems, Managerial Communication, Human Resource Management and Investment/Portfolio Management. Also added was a School of Divinity that offers a Master of Arts in Christian Education and the Master of Divinity degree. Approximately 50 are currently enrolled. New to the campus is Lake Hollifield, a six-acre body of water that will be dedicated April 21. Future plans call for a bell tower, walking trails and picinic areas. Part of Gardner-Webb's growth can be attributed to its program, Greater Opportunities in Adult Learning (GOAL).
