¥ § Bi = Sia ET Activities scheduled at Center Kings Mountain Senior Center activities for June. For more infor- mation, call Sharon Eaker at 734- 0447. In an effort to conserve money, the Center will not have a June newsletter but will begin publish- ing a bi-monthly newsletter in July/August. : The Center will not give out commodities in June due to the lack of participation in March, and because the Armory will be closed that day. ; The annual Volunteer Appreciation Brunch will be held June 11 at 11 a.m. Invitations have been sent out. Any volunteers who did not receive an invitation should call the Center. The Bridge Club, starting June 9, will not meet on Thursdays until September. It will continue to meet on Tuesdays from 1:30-4 p.m. Center socials will be on June 4 and June 17 from 7-10 p.m. The new suggested admission price is $3 per person. Upcoming summer activities: WBTV tour, Carowinds, fishing excursions, July cookout, and visit to Reed Gold Mine. HM Ongoing activities: Monday - Senior shuttle 9-1, ce- ramics 8-11, Coupon Club 9:30-11, Bible History 11, aquatics 11-12, nutrition 11:30, quilting 1 p.m. Tuesday - Senior shuttle 9-1, sing-a-long 11, nutrition 11:30, ex- ercise class 12:30, bridge 1:30-4. Wednesday - Senior shuttle 9-1, Bible Study 10, aquatics 11-12, nu- trition 11:30, beginning line danc- ing 12:30, line dancing 1 p.m. Thursday - Senior shuttle 9-1, bingo 11, aquatics 11-12, nutrition 11:30, shopping 12-2, crocheting 1 p.m., bridge 1:30-4 p.m. Friday - Senior shuttle 9-1, nu- trition 11:30, legal services first Friday 1:15-3 p.m. by appointment. Activities planned at Crowders Park Special activities are scheduled this weekend at Crowders Mountain State Park. A basic canoe skills and safety program is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the park office. Parents and kids (age 10 and over) are invited: to participate. The class is limited to, 10 persons and will last 1 1/2 hours. Call 853-5375 for informa-- tion. A night hike will be held Saturday at 8 p.m. Meet at the park office for a hike led by a park vol- unteer and explore what nocturnal wildlife roams the park after clos- ing. Take a flashlight and war hik- ing boots. The hike is limited to 20 people and will last 1 1/2 hours. Call 853-5375 for reservations TYLER CARSON ROSS Tyler Carson Ross celebrates birthday Tyler Carson Ross, son of Ann Brakefield and Terry Ross of 306-1 Wright Road, will celebrate his second birthday May 29. He has three brothers: Rodney Ross, 21; Mark Ross, 20; and Bruce Holland, 18; and a sister, Chasity Holland, 21. Shepards announce birth of their son Kyle and Deda Shepard, 1215 Bethlehem Rd., announce the ar- rival of their son, Matthew Kyle Shepard, April 29, 1994, Gaston Memorial Hospital. The baby weighed nine pounds, 10 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long. Matt has a 21-months-old sister, Maci. Grandparents are Dot and Ken Smith of Kings Mountain and Bernice and James Shepard of Gastonia. Great-grandparents are Thurman and Birdie Smith of Lincolnton, Nanna Bell Shepard of Sylva and Julius Mills of Stanley. Coles return home after KM visit Mr. and Mrs. Carl B. Cole have returned to Tempe, AZ after a visit with Kings Mountain relatives. Mr. Cole is nephew of Mrs. Nina Jones. MARILYN DOSS KENNETH LEE WRIGHT Doss-Wright Jack and Madge Wright of Grover announce the engagement of their son, Kenneth Lee Wright, to Marilyn Jean Doss of Raleigh. The bride-elect is the daughter of Mrs. Mary Doss of 717 Osborne St., Eden. She graduated from Morehead High School, attended Elon College and is a graduate of North Carolina State University. She is employed by First Citizens Bank of Raleigh. The bridegroom-to-be is a graduate of Kings Mountain High School and earned his degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from North Carolina State University. He is employed by B&R Research Centre in Triangle Park.
