I \ MRS. ERIC WADE SPICER (Kimberly Jane McGinnis) McGinnis-Spicer Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church was the setting May 21 for the wedding of Kimberly Jane McGinnis and Eric Wade Spicer. Rev. John W. Futterer officiated the 3 p.m. ceremony for which Betty Anne Deal was organist and Anne Martin Futterer was soloist. Mrs. Futterer sang "My Heart Ever Faithful" and "Whither Thou Goest." Michael Thomas Bell was cross bearer and Virginia Bess McGinnis was acolyte. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal wed- ding gown of ivory silk. The bodice of the gown was accentuated with hand-beaded pearls and sequins. The full, silk skirt was enhanced by a bow with sequins. The fingertip veil of rolled edge illusion was attached to a back spray of ivory satin rosettes, sequined leaves and pearl sprays. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of white roses, stephanotis and assorted greenery. The bride's sisters, Patricia Lynn McGinnis and Ashley Elizabeth McGinnis,were maids of honor. They wore short, knee-length, pale pink dresses designed with full sleeves scattered with pearls. They carried bou- quets of pink roses, stargazer lilies and purple iris. Maegan Spicer was junior bridesmaid and Stacey Spicer was flower girl. Ringbearer was Jared Spicer. They are all nieces and nephew of the bride- groom. Anne Campbell and Emily Campbell, cousins of the bride, kept the reg- ister. Programs were distributed by JJ Warlick and Susan Hendricks. Rice bouquets were distributed by Susan Smith. The altar flowers were given in memory of the bridegroom's mother. The mother of the bride chose a short, Kelly green two-piece tapestry overlaid suit with rhinestone buttons. Best man for the bridegroom was his father. Groomsmen were Brent Bagwell, Kale Bagwell, John Gamble, Leard Keeter and Timothy Spicer, all of Kings Mountain. Karla Russell Bennett directed the wedding. The bride's parents hosted the reception in the church fellowship hall. A beautiful garden scene featured pink geraniums, roses, gladiolus, and mixed greenery accented with hurricane lamps and white candles. The wedding cake was topped and decorated with fresh pink rosebuds. The cake was cut and served by Mrs. Doris S. McGinnis and Mrs. Doris Cloninger. Assisting in serving punch were Robin Warlick and Liza Blanton. Greeting guests were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Sabetti Jr. and Mr. and Mrs. Hubert McGinnis Jr. Saying goodbyes were Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Campbell. A rehearsal dinner was hosted on May 20 at the Kings Mountain Country Club by the bridegroom's father, Beuford Spicer. After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the newlyweds are at home in Kings Mountain. Mrs. Spicer is a 1987 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1991 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is currently attending Mercer University School of Law and will graduate in 1995. She is granddaughter of Mrs. Paul Hinkle McGinnis of Kings Mountain and the late Mr. McGinnis and Mr. and Mrs. Belvin Lassiter Strickland. The bridegroom is 1982 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1986 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He is em- ployed with T and W Textiles in Clover, SC. He is the son of Beuford Lee Spicer of Kings Mountain and the late Gloria Bagwell Spicer and the grandson of Mrs. Lois Spicer and the late Willie Spicer and the late Mr. and Mrs. Willis B. Bagwell. Michael Jordan on C-N Dean's List Michael Jordan, son of Rev. and Mrs. Morris Jordan of Kings Mountain, has been named to the Carson-Newman College Dean's List for the spring semester. To be on the Dean's List, a stu- dent must complete at least 12 credit hours of work and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or bet- ter, based on a 4.0 scale. Summer Institute slated at Cleveland Cleveland Community College will hold the second annual Summer Institute for middle schoolers July 5-August 4. Summer Institute will meet each Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The institute will be taught by middle school instructors and will be designed as an academically en- riching, mind-expanding, fun expe- rience for kids ages 11-15. Local and regional field trips are planned for the program as well as a num- ber of recreational activities. Summer Institute costs are fig- ured on a self-supporting basis. Cost for the full session is $195% and is limited to 14 students. Application must be made in per- son in the Curriculum Office at CCC by June 15.
