Free basketball
A free basketball shoot-off fea-
turing prizes for incoming seventh,
eighth and ninth graders will be
held by CODAP Teen Center
Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. at Kings
Mountain Community Center.
Director Anne Gray said that
basketballs. shirts and pizzas will
20 the winners of various competi-
tions including low hoop throws
and three on three teams. Players
will qualify for the. competitions by
shooting five balls. . A best of 10
free throws and hot shots competi-
tion are the fun events.on tap.
Students must show an ID card
at the door.
Gray said that parents can volun-
teer to help in the event and are en-
couraged to call her at 481-1752.
Singing set Sunday
at True Gospel HC
There will be a special singing
featuring "Crimson River" Sunday
at 6 p.m. at True Gospel Holiness
Church in Kings Mountain.
Rev. Jerry W. Morrow, pastor,
invites the public.

at Allen Memorial
There will be a gospel singing
June 12 at 7 p.m. at Allen
Memorial Baptist Church, located
on Long Branch Road near Grover.
Featured group will be "The
Destinations" of Liberty, SC.
The public is invited.

sets Homecoming
Bible Holiness Church, 309
Cleveland Ave., Grover, will hold
Homeconiing and gospel singing
Sunday.
Picnic lunch will be served at 1
p.m. after the worship service. Lee
Young will be featured singer at
the 2 p.m. song service to which
the public is invited.

Shriners planning
softball tournament
The White Plains Shrine Club
will sponsor a benefit softball tour-
nament June 17 at Jake Early -
Memorial Park, located at the
Kings Mountain Parks and
Recreation Department.
The tournament will be a dou-
ble-elimination ISA event (A and
A Minor) and is open to D and E
class teams. It is also a world qual-
ifier.

Boys Club car wash
June 11 at Central
The Kings Mountain Boys Club
will have a car wash SAturday,
June 11 from 9 a.m until 5 p.m at
Central School. The cost is $5 for
inside and outside.
There will also be a dance at the
gym from 8 until 12. The cost is
$2. Anyone over the age of 18 will
not be allowed inside.
All proceeds will be used to de-
fray expenses to the Florida
National Championship basketball
tournament.

Houser demonstrates
Poletop rescue
John Houser of Kings Mountain
was among electric linemen from
10 municipal electric systems
across the state who competed re-
cently in a test of agility and skill
that could save a life.
Houser, who is employed by the
LN
City of Kings Mountain, demon-
strated poletop rescue and was
graded on technique, as well as
speed, in lowering the victim - a
120 pound mannequin - to safety
and beginning CPR.
