Celanese safety awards The Hoechst Celanese Sou-Tex Plant in Mount Holly celebrated winning the prestigious Chemical Manufacturers Association group III Lammot du Pont Safety Award for 1993 with an on the house breakfast recently during National Safety Week. The CMA award is given to companies in three size categories that have demonstrated the best im- provement in reducing occupation- al injury and illness incidence rates over the preceding five years. From 1989 to 1993, Hoechst Celanese reduced its total OSHA recordable incidence rate 57 per- cent, its lost work day rate 58 per- cent and its lost-time days away from work by 63 percent. Congressman sets office hours Tuesday A representative of U.S. Congressman Alex McMillan will visit Kings Mountain and Cherryville to meet with 9th District residents and discuss prob- lems with federal government agencies or concerns about legisla- tive matters before the Congress. McMillan's representatives cus- tomarily hold Kings Mountain and Cherryville office hours on the first Monday of the month. However, because the Fourth of July holiday falls on the first Monday in July, this visit is set for Tuesday. The Congressman's representative will be in Kings Mountain from 9:30 a.m. until noon in the first floor Council Chambers at Kings Mountain City Hall, 101 W. Gold Street. McMillan's representative will meet with constituents in the office of the Mayor, first floor, Cherryville City Hall, 116 S.
