HOWZE John Edwin Howze, 59, of 406 Downing Drive, Kings Mountain, died July 28. 1994 at his home. A native of West Monroe, La., i he was the son of Mrs. Lela Mae i Russ Howze of Brookshire, Texas, i. and the late John Allen Howze. He was retired from Transco Energy : Company of Houston, Texas, and ‘ t was an employee of Piedmont Natural -Gas in Charlotte. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. William Barron Saturday at 4 p.m. at Boyce Memorial A.R.P. Church. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Ross "Red" Lefevers, 60, of 614 East Gold Street, Kings Mountain, died July 31, 1994 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Kings Mountain, he was the son of the late Perry and Maude Bell Lefevers. He was re- tired as an electrician with Lithium Corporation in Bessemer City. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the Kings Mountain Volunteer Rescue Squad for 25 years. He is survived by his wife, Doris Estes Lefevers of Kings Mountain; two brothers, J.D. Lefevers of Grover and Larry Lefevers of Bessemer City; and two sisters, Ruby L. Davenport of Kings Mountain and Bessie Cobb of Cherryville. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Odas Shelton Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. He is survived by. his wife, Emma Hamrick Neal; a daughter, Mrs. Valarie Wood of Lithia Springs, Ga.; four sons, Greg, Scott, David and Mark Neal of Marietta, Ga.; 11 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Helen Neal Hamrick of Cleveland Pines, Shelby; and two brothers, Fred Neal of Kings Mountain and Boyce Dewitt Neal of St. Augustine, Fla. The funeral will be conducted Thursday, August 4 at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Marietta, with burial in an area cemetery. Greenes to host Singing Jubilee The Singing Greenes will host the 12th annual Gospel Singing Jubilee August 10-14 at the High Country Fairgrounds on Roby Green Road near Boone. The event has thrown through the years to become a major attrac- tion for western North Carolina, drawing visitors from across the Southeast and beyond. Gates open at 5 p.m. each day and singing will begin at 7. Wednesday's program will in- clude a free concert by the Issacs, an outdoor worship service, and a performance by the Greenes.
