Kings Mountain, died August 27, 1994 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Kings Mountain, he was the son of the late Augustus Lee and Lillian Summitt Early. He was a retired welder. He is survived by a son, Thomas Alfred Early Jr. of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Mrs. Carolyn Harrelson of Kings Mountain and Mrs. Rita Yarboro of Shelby: three brothers, William Early of Shelby, and Charles Early and Steve Early of Kings Mountain; and five grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Edwin Chriscoe Monday at 4 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. CHARLES BRIDGES JR. Charles Bridges Jr., 66, of 1 Bennett Drive, Kings Mountain, died August 27, 1994 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Charles and Susie Morrison Bridges. He was retired from Parkdale Mills af- ter 20 years of service. He was a member of American Legion Post 155 of Kings Mountain. He is survived by a son, Bobby Bridges of Gastonia; two grand- children, Kristy Bridges and Susie Randall; and two brothers, Dennis Bridges and Dan Bridges of Kings Mountain. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Bob Hope Monday at 4 pm.. at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bessemer City. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. RIXIE ANDERSON MARIETTA, SC - Rixie Parris Anderson, 87, of 120 Anderson Road, died August 27, 1994 at Greenville Hospital. She was a homemaker and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was the widow of W.R. Anderson. She is survived by two sons, Clyde E. Anderson and Larry W. Anderson, both of Marietta; three sisters, Hollis Armstrong and Jessie Parris of Gastonia, NC, and Hessie Wynn of Goldsboro, NC; ithree grandchildren; and four igreat-grandchildren. The funeral was held Monday at 2 p.m. at Ford Funeral Home Chapel in Clover. Burial was at : Woodside Cemetery in Clover. T ALICE VEYHL PARAMUS, NJ - Alice {Elizabeth Wiesener Veyhl, 77, ! died August 29, 1994. ! A homemaker, she was a native { of Memphis, Tn. and lived in : Ridgewood before moving to Paramus in 1941. She was a homemaker and a charter member and elder of Trinity United Presbyterian Church in Paramus. Surviving are her husband, Walter Veyhl; one son, Erich Veyhl of Concord, Mass; and one brother, Carl Wiesener of Kings Mountain. JAMES HOWARD NEAL James Howard Neal, 91, of Route 1, Costner School Rd., Bessemer City, died August 25, 1994 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. A native of Rutherford County, he was widower of Ethel Conner Neal and son of the late Herod Russell and Mary Wilkie Neal. He was retired from Mutual Textiles and was the last living charter member of Bright Light Baptist Church of which he was a deacon. Surviving are two daughters, Mary Fraley of Bessemer City and Erline Ashe of Greenville, SC; one brother, Coley Neal of Bessemer City; 16 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at Bright Light Baptist Church. Rev. R. A. White, Rev. Jerry Lumston and Rev. Todd Reynolds officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. Truett Moore Jr., 49, 1440 Rue De Courmont Dr., died August 23, 1994. ; "A ‘native of Savannah, Ga., he was the son of the Rev. George T. and Elizabeth Stevens Moore of Leesville and was a computer Sys- tems analyst. He retired as a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy after 21 years of service. A Lutheran, he attended Clemson University. Surviving, in addition to his par- ents, are one daughter, Robin Moore of Brunswick, Maine; three sons, James Moore of Chesapeake, Va., Kenneth Moore and Jeffrey Moore of Brunswick, Maine; two brothers, John and Alex Moore of Hickory and his maternal grand- mother, Nellie Stow Stevens of White Rock. ) The funeral was conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. at St. David's Lutheran Church. KING DOROTHY SHANNON Mrs. Dorothy Rita Shannon, 69, of 105 Fairview Street, Kings Mountain, died August 27, 1994 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of the late Edward Shannon and Minnie Beam Jones, and wife of the late Willard Russell Johnson. She was a retired textile worker. She is survived by two daugh- ters, Rita Aquino and Marie Johnson of Kings Mountain; two sons, Edward Johnson of Oriento, Washington and Willard Stacy Johnson of Kings Mountain; four brothers, Edward Beam, Robert Jones and Roy Jones, all of Dallas, and Samuel Jones of Bessemer City; three sisters, Betty Moore of Clover, SC, Nancy Helms of Mt. Holly and Brenda Crisp of Dallas; eight grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. A memorial service was con- ducted by the Revs. Mitchell Pruitt and Ricky Walker Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Dallas Funeral Home Chapel. OLA MOSS SULLIVAN Ola Moss Sullivan, 84, of 100 S. Sims St., died August 31, 1994 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Kings Mountain, she was wife of Zeddie Sullivan and daughter of the late William Henry and Margaret Rippy Moss. She was a retired Park Yarn Mill employee. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Sid Moss and Mrs. Pearl Moss Horne, both of Kings Mountain; and family members John and Elaine Moss and Charles and Ruby Alexander, all of Kings Mountain, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was a member of First Baptist Church. The funeral will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Dr. John W. Sloan and Rev. Reg Alexander will officiate. William Davis Wolfe who died in 1944. She was the daugh- ter of the late George and Elizabeth Smith. She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church in Gastonia. KM, Grover get intangibles tax Kings Mountain's share of intan- gibles tax is $44.069.76 and Grover's share is $3,983,24. The N.C. Department of Revenue mailed the distribution checks this week totaling $126.8 million to 496 municipalities and all 100 counties. The money is distributed to counties and their municipalities based on the amount of ad valorem taxes each local government levies. Kings Mountain also levies taxes in Gaston County which represent- ed $1710.09 of the total. The intangibles tax is a property tax on the value of intangible per- sonal property such as accounts re- ceivable, notes, bonds and evi- dences of debt, shares of stock and other investment funds and benefi- cial interest in foreign trust. Allocations in Cleveland County topped $1 million with the county seat leading the distribution. Shelby receives $87,911.32. As in the past, Mecklenburg County will receive the largest dis- tribution: $12.108,590. Gaston county was allocated $2.5 million.
