A native of Kings Mountain, he was the son of Raymond and Debbie Hullender Garris, and Doris Garris Gordon and Reid Gordon, all of Gastonia, He was an employee of Beverly Knit of Gastonia. His was the paternal grandson of John and Maudie Queen of Shelby and the late Mack Garris, and the maternal grandson of Loyd Elder of Poplar Bluft, Missouri, and the late Pauline Marler Elder. His pa- ternal great-grandfather is Odell Parker of Shelby. He is also survived by two sis- ters, Lisa Bryant and Kimberly Stowe, both of Kings Mountain. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Olin Bynum and Darrell Alexander Monday at 3 p.m. at Kings Mountain Baptist Church. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. , DURA "ANN" BALLEW BESSEMER CITY - Dura "Ann" Ballew, 56, of Route 3, Capps Road, died September 3, 1994 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Gaston County, she was the daughter of Imogene Lewis Ballew of Clover, SC, and the late Vernal E. Ballew. She was retired from Leisure Knit of Gastonia and attended Westside Assembly of God in Gastonia. In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Otis Ballew Jr.; five sons, Michael G. Price of Knoxville, Tn., Tony J. Ballew of Kings Mountain, Ronald D. Ballew and Gregory S. Ballew of Gastonia, and Gary W. Ballew of Cowpens, SC; a daughter, Jacqueline B. Lee or Arden; three brothers, Donald Ballew of Clover, SC, Dewey R. Ballew of Memphis, Tn., and Devon Ballew of Tillery; a sister, Delena B. Ewing of Belmont; 23 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Timothy Lee and Paul Ramsey Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Sisk- Butler Funeral Home Chapel in Bessemer City. Burial was in Hollywood Cemetery in Gastonia. JASON R. DOVER Jason R. Dover, 24, of 226 Long Branch Road, Kings Mountain, died September 3, 1994 at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of Paul H. and Rachel Hamrick Dover of Kings Mountain. He was a 1988 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1994 graduate of Western Carolina University. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his paternal grandfa- ther, Hugh L. Dover of Kings Mountain; maternal grandmother, Gladys Hamrick of Kings Mountain; and a brother, Ashley Dover of Kings Mountain. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Mike Butzberger and Ned Buchner Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial was in the church cemetery. CARRIE HUGHES Carrie Gaffney Hughes, 90, of Dixon School Road, Kings Mountain, died September 5, 1994 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cherokee County, §.C., she was the daughter of the late Marcus L. and Jennie Belk Gaffney, and wife of the late Nevette Hughes. She was a retired school teacher with 40 years of ser- vice, and a member of Kings Mountain Baptist Church. She is survived by two sisters, Jennie Starnes of ‘Gaffney, S.C., and Ruth Cadieu of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.; and a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Olin Byrum, Allan Sinclair and Patrick Hamrick Thursday at 2 p.m. at Kings Mountain Baptist Church. A native of Lincoln County, he was the son of the late Loco and Biner Wright Bingham. He was a retired farmer and a member of Mary's Grove United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Lula Jane Eaker Bingham of the home; a son, E.A. Bingham Jr. of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Mrs. Waynell B. Costner of Kings Mountain and Earleen B. Grayson and Mary Frances Bingham of Shelby; two half-brothers, Robert and Grady Costner of Shelby; two half sisters, Mary Lee Howell of Cherryville and Mozelle Brady of Shelby; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
