Billy, who is being reared by the grandparents he calls Mom and Dad, requires constant medical at- tention from a life-long illness. Butch and Helen Barnette took their grandson into their home when he was born and doctors said he would not see his first birthday. Mrs. Barnette, a nurse at Kings Mountain Hospital, recently suf- fered a light stroke and is now back at work but remains under a doe- tor's care. Aid Association of Lutherans Branch 9289, of which Resurrection and St. Matthew's Lutheran Church are members, is sponsoring the yard sale. The fraternal insurance compa- ny, a non-profit company, will match donations up to $1,000, ac- cordingto DoyleCampbell, a Angela Zimmerman of Shelby has joined the staff of Kings Mountain Baptist Church as Minister of Music. A private piano teacher since 1987 and staff accompanist at Gardner-Webb University in Boiling Springs, Zimmerman has been in a leadership role in chil- dren's choirs since her first accom- panist position at the age of 12. She said those early teaching roles gave her invaluable experience to build on in college, seminary and beyond. Reared in the church as a preacher's kid, Zimmerman said she was always in church when the doors opened. She accepted Jesus as her Savior during a revival in 1967 but it was not until college that she was called to the ministry of music and changed her major to church music. It was at Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas that she met her husband, Steve, and they were married in 1984 and both graduated from seminary in 1985 and moved to ministry posi- tions in Brunswick, Ga. Zimmerman, 34, was interim or- ganist at Rosen Heights Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas in 1985 and from 1982-83 directed choirs for two and three year-old children at Travis Avenue Baptist Church in Forth Worth. Her first position out of seminary was as Minister of Music at Norwich Street Baptist Church in Brunswick, Ga. from 1986-87. Jenkins is a member of the church. Sandra Wilson, a member of the planning committee, said that country breakfast plates will in- clude ham and all the trimmings for $3.75; sausage and bacon and all the trimmings for $3.50; sausage biscuits for $1.25; and ham biscuits for $1.50. In addition, baked goods will be available. Take-out plates will be available by calling the church office or there is plenty of room in the fel- lowship hall for diners to enjoy breakfast from 6:30-10 a.m. "We are very excited about David's progress and also at this opportunity to help one of our own," said Wilson. Wilson said church and civic groups are invited to eat breakfast with the El Bethel congregation on Saturday. The public is invited. "We will have plenty of good cooks and good food," she said.
