Winning the SHOCO out- standing swimmer awards were Jil] Mabry and Spencer Borders. Billy Stewart was awarded the Tam Jones Sportsmanship Trophy. Naoki Nishiyama won the Anne Potts Team Before Self: Award and Emily Griffin wo the Howard White Award of} Pxcellence. | Five year plaques were given to:'the following swimmers: Emily Griffin, Hank Griffin, APES BG L305 ll 2h a i Wet AG Saf its Kelly Hendrick. Wendey Neisler, Drew Thomas. Angela Strahler. Amber Pauley and Carrie Drake. Most improved awards were given to a swimmer from Shelby and Kings Mountain in each category. They included Alan McDaniel, Charlie Jones, April Smith, Kelly Messera, Keisha Haynes, Wendy Neisler, Naoki Nishiyama, Michelle Grose, Josephine Chan, Jill Mabry, Nathan Mayse and Daniel Shuford. High point awards for the long course season were given to Leigh Spada, Alex Queen, Jessica Koenig, Clay Griffin, Emily Griffin, Kelly Hendrick, Amy Hendrick, Matt Borders, Christine Brackett and Daniel Shuford. KMHS wrestlers lose to East Gaston ‘Kings Mountain High's wrestlers fell to 4-A power East Gaston 44-22 in their opening- ‘season match Thursday night at the KMHS gym. Winners for Kings Mountain ‘were Steve Lemmons at 103 pounds, Gary Hughes at 125, John McDaniel at 130, Kenny ‘Bridges at 140 and Jahi Smart at:171. Hughes and Bridges won their weight division champi- onships in the annual Gaston County Tournament Saturday at North Gaston High. Lemmons and Smart finished second, T.J. McClain and Chris Carrigan were third at 152 and 189 pounds, respectively; McDaniel was fourth at 130, and Scott Martin and Jeremy Martin were fourth at 160 and 145, respec- tively. The Mountaineers travel to West Lincoln Thursday for a 4 p.m. match.
