Poetry seminar popular at KMHS Extra-curricular activities like the four poetry seminars last week at Kings Mountain High School give English students extra credit. Wednesday night 22 seniors, including more males than fe- males, took advantage of the creative opportunity and before the two-hour session was over they had written their own poet- ry, including in each one a piece of themselves. OBITUARY LESTER WELCH Lester Welch, 86, of 1710 Bethlehem Rd., died December 20, 1994 at home. A native of Cherokee County, SC, he was a retired electrician and son of the late John W. and Susan McConnell Welch. He was widower of Flora Caldwell Welch. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church. Surviving are one son, Don Welch of Kings Mountain; three daughters, Barbara Stroupe and Sue Horton, both of Kings Mountain, and Joy Tolbert of Stanley; one sister, Lena Goforth of Grover; 11 grand- children; and three great-grand- children. The funeral will be conducted Thursday morning at 11 o'clock at Macedonia Baptist Church. Rev. David Philbeck will offici- ate. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery. On Christmas Day at 10:15 a.m., there will be a Sunday School Christmas birthday party with light refreshments for ev- eryone. The Christmas Festival Service will be held at 11 a.m. with special Christmas anthems by the Senior Choir. There will be a Christmas message at each service.
