CHURCHES From Page 1-A Boyce Memorial ARP Church and Central United Methodist Church have ar- ranged Christmas Eve services at 7:30 p.m. Christmas Day services will feature the Christmas musical, "In All His Glory" at Second Baptist Church's 11 a.m. ser- vice. There will not be a Sunday School service at Resurrection Lutheran Church nor at First Presbyterian Church, Dixon Presbyterian Church and Macedonia Baptist Church. At 9:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian, a light breakfast will be served in the recreational building and at 10:30 a.m. an abbreviated service of praise will be held in the sanctuary. The Dixon ser- vice will also be at 10:30. There will be no Sunday School at Central Methodist Church but an informal worship service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Christmas morning. Macedonia Baptist Church will hold a traditional worship service at 11 a.m. on Christmas Day. GIVING From Page 1-A Postmaster Bob Howard said that first graders from Bethware School presented his staff with a unique Christmas tree for the lobby. The tree is decorated with handmade angels made by the students. A special fund-raising effort for Billy and Tabitha Byers, the children of Billy and Patricia Byers, had reached $2,918. this week. The family is hoping to raise funds for a handicapped- equipped van to transport the seriously ill children to Duke Hospital for treatment. Donations may be forwarded to the Byers children, in care of First National Bank, PO Box 168, Shelby, 28151. Kings Mountain United Fund gave the community an early Christmas present last week with the announcement of com- pletion of its successful fund- raising effort. United Fund topped its goal of $125,000 for 16 charitable causes. SIGNS OF THE SEASON - It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the festive home and yard of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Blanton on Washburn Switch Road near Shelby. Large crowdes are enjoying the ° nightly display of lights and elaborate holiday scenes from manger scenes to toy soldiers. Loom plant closed Wednesday and employees will return to work January 3. Holiday pay goes to eligible employees and bonuses are traditionally paid on July 4. Christmas parties were held on all three shifts. ABB Engineering closes the week of Christmas and on Monday, January 2. Kings Mountain City Hall will be closed Friday and Monday, Dec. 26. CHRISTMAS From Page 1-A employees will work regular schedules. Parkdale Mills 5 will close at 7 a.m. Thursday and return to work at 7 a.m. on December 26. Bonuses will be paid based on length of service. Anvil Knitwear closes Friday and reopens on the third shift Monday night, January 2. Vacation pay will go to eligible employees.
