Angela Lyon Hinton was re- cently selected by Revlon Cosmetics as the winner from South Carolina and a grand | prize winner from the United States in the company's Unforgettable Women of 1994 contest. " Hinton. who was the state winner from South Carolina in 1993. was prompted by a Revlon executive to enter again this year. The advice paid off for Hinton. who was notified in August that she was not only the 1994 winner from South Carolina, but was one of five grand prize winners out of the United States. - The contest, in its fifth and fi- nal year, is a nation-wide search to find women who exemplify Revlon's "unforgettable" image. It was open to all female U.S. residents age 18 and over. According to Revlon's presi- dent, Ron Pearlman, models who already represent Revlon'’s Unforgettable campaign, such as Cindy Crawford, Claudia Schiffer. Veronica Webb. and Lauren Hutton. are not only beautiful to look at but are also intelligent. talented. spirited, and caring people who each do many things to contribute to so- ciety. This year's Unforgettable Women of 1994 contestants were judged on the same crite- ria. The five grand prize winners each received a check for $10,000 and a three-day trip for two to New York City to re- ceive the grand prize. Hinton and her husband, Donny, were flown by Revlon to New York City. While there, they had a busy and exciting schedule. They attended the Unforgettable event, where Hinton was pre- sented her $10,000 check by su- per-model Vernoica Webb. Hinton, who is a native of Kings Mountain, is the daughter of Thurman and Amarylis Lyon who live in the Bethlehem Community. She is a 1984 grad- uate of Kings Mountain High School. As a young person she became involved in modeling Former KM woman unforgettable and pageants with the help of Joan Baker, also a native of Kings Mountain and owner of Joan Baker's School of Personal Development. Modeling and Pageantry located in Kings Mountain. Hinton still believes strongly in personal development for herself and strives to help oth- ers. She is currently a teacher in the Cherokee County School District. She loves teaching young people, conducting workshops for educators, and attending graduate school. She holds a Master's degree in Elementary Education and an Educational Specialist in Guidance and Counseling from the University of South Carolina. She is currently pur- suing a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of South Carolina. In her spare tie, she is involved in charitable work for her commu- nity. She resides in Gaffney, S.C., with her husband, Donny, who owns Brown Furniture Company of Gaffney.
