| Obituaries EDGAR LEE ADAMS SR. Edgar "Jack" Adamse She 73: of: 55% Crocker Rd.. d Side id December 27. 1994 at Kings Mountain = Hospital. He was ‘a member and deacon of Mount Olive Baptist Church and a leader of the Senior Choir and Maddox Choir. A member of the North and South Carolina Singing Convention, he was manager and leader of the Friendly Five Quartet and the Star Lodge No. 5 of Grover. Surviving are his wife. Virginia S. Adams: two daugh- ters, Mary Plummer of Zebulon and Sandra Kay Adams of Charlotte: one son, Edgar Lee "Dean" Adams Jr.; one grand- daughter, Cherica Adams of Charlotte; one grandson, Dereck Plummer of Zebulon; one great-grandson, Dereck Plummer Jr. of Zebulon; two sisters, Inez Dye of Kannapolis and Mary Adams Edwards of Kings Mountain; three brothers, Ben D. Adams, Rev. J. D. Adams and Alexander Adams Jr., all of Kings Mountain. The funeral was conducted December 30, 1994 at 3 p.m. at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Rev. W. A. Maddox officiated. A native of Alexander County, he was the son of the late Ernest Hobson and Bertha Morrison Crouch. He was a vet- eran of the U.S. Army and a member of Central United Methodist Church. He is survived by his brother, Glenn Holland Crouch of Charlotte; and his sisters, Poly C. Elkins of Lincolnton. George Francis Maida Sr. 74. 1024 Bethlehem Road. Kings Mountain, died December 29, 1994 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. : A native of New York City. N.Y., he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine Chiarelli Maida. He was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife, Blanche Smith Maida of Kings Mountain; a son, George Francis Maida Jr. of Richmond, Va.; a daughter, Patti Carpenter of Shelby: two sisters, Florence Arcidiacona and Louise Tock of New York City, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. A funeral mass was conduct- ed by Msgr. William G. Wellein Monday at 11 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. A prayer service was held Sunday night at Harris Funeral Home. Burial was in West View Gardens, Bessemer City. CARRIE P. JONES YORK, S.C. - Carrie Pannell Jones, 98, of 1712 York Highway, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 1995 at her home. A native of Bakersville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Martin Coleman Pannell and Emma Young Pannell. She was a homemaker and the widower of the late Thomas Clyde Jones Sr. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Elsie Graig Sunday School Class, and was a member of the Latta Home Demonstration Club of York. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Mrs. Emma J. Huffstetler and Mrs. Lucy J. Allen. She is survived by two sons, Thomas R. Jones of Gastonia, N.C., and Thomas Clyde Jones Jr. of Summerville; three daugh- ters, Mrs. Vera J. Hastings of York, Mrs. Katie Lou J. Pruitt of Kings Mountain, N.C., and Mrs. Mary Jane J. Cabaniss of Rock Hill; 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and 16 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Linda Williams Carpenter; three sons, Archie John Carpenter of Kings Mountain, Joe Daniel Carpenter of Arlington, Va., and Robert Avery Carpenter of Shelby; a daughter, Angela Carpenter Jenkins of Waco; a brother, Joe Goins of Cherryville; two grandchildren and three step- grandchildren.
