The pro- gram will feature Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) speaking to a special gathering sponsored by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC. He will discuss business initiatives up for debate early in the first Congressional session of 1995. “In the past couple of years, a lot of attention has been drawn to the way legislation and gov- ernment regulations affect small businesses," Bain said. "Legislation that affects busi- ness growth may also affect the growth of our economy, so these are issues that need to be examined very carefully. "This is also a unique oppor- tunity to hear directly from one of the most influential people in Congress, and we hope this pro- gram will lend some insight in- to the issues being addressed early in the new term." The program is a re-broadcast of a live presentation. by Gingrich on February 7. Jones is offering the program in coop- eration with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Edward D. Christmas shower honors Jennifer Phifer Jennifer Phifer, August 5 bride-elect of Brian Webster, was honored recently at a Christmas shower at the home of Beth Wease on Phifer Drive. Entertaining with Mrs. Wease were Kelly Goodson and Linda Dellinger. The home of the hostess was festive with Christmas decora- tions. Guests showered the bride-to- be with Christmas ornaments and Christmas decorations. The hostesses presented her with an ornament corsage and gifts. Party refreshments were served. The conference begins at 8 a.m. Sunday with registration, followed by a luncheon for state officers and honored guests.The official opening is at 2 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 4:30. A business session and awards luncheon will be held Monday. At 2 p.m., there will be a special ceremony honoring DAR veterans, and at 3 p.m. there will be a business session followed by a formal reception honoring visiting dignitaries, state officers and other guests.
