Blalock-Owens
Mr. and Mrs. Christopher Brian Owens, who were
wed Saturday, are on a cruise to The Bahamas and af-
terwards will reside in Kings Mountain.
Tonya Dee Blalock became Owens' bride in a cere-
mony officiated by Rev. Jerry Wright, pastor of First
Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, Ga., in Bethlehem
Baptist Church.
Frances Lail was organist, Mike Chambers was
soloist and Cathy Moore was pianist for the program
of nuptial music.
The bride was given in marriage by her father. She
wore a formal gown of white satin fedturing a modi-
fied square neckline. The fitted bodice was embroi-
dered with Alencon lace and was enhanced by Bishop
sleeves overlaid with matching lace. A full skirt fea-
tured an elaborate scalloped border of lace, pearls and
sequins and extended into a Cathedral-length train.
Tricia Blalock Hall of Blacksburg, SC was matron
of honor. Maid of honor was Dana Lyn Blalock of
Kings Mountain. Bridesmaids were Ruth Hullender
Blalock of Kings Mountain, Sharon Sheppard White
‘of Grover and Dana Boger Smith of Mt. Pleasant.
Junior bridesmaid was Virginia Lee Hall of
Blacksburg.
Connor Drew Blalock was flower girl. Will Hall of
Blacksburg and Brantley Blalock of Kings Mountain
carried the rings.
Sgt. Mark Simpson was best man. Groomsmen were
Todd Blalock of Kings Mountain, Jimmy Hall of
Blacksburg, SC, Sgt. Derek Johnson of Grover and
Chip Drennan of Clover, SC. Junior groomsman was
Cort Hall of Blacksburg.
The bride's parents hosted the reception in the
church fellowship hall.
The bridegroom's mother hosted the rehearsal din-
ner Friday night in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Dub Blalock of Kings Mountain are
parents of the bride who is the granddaughter of Mrs.
Bertha Blalock of Kings Mountain. A 1987 graduate
of Kings Mountain High School, she is a 1991 gradu-
ate of Wingate College and is employed by First
Carolina Federal Savings Bank.
The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Helen Owens of
Kings Mountain. A 1985 graduate of Kings Mountain
High School, he graduated from Isothermal
Community College in 1991. He is employed by the
City of Kings Mountain as a patrolman in the Police
Department.

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Michael Anthony of Kings
Mountain announce the engagement of their daughter,
Karen Michelle, to Jerry Dean Tucker Jr.
The bride-elect is a 1990 graduate of Kings
Mountain High School and a 1993 graduate of Gaston
College with an Associates of Applied Science degree
in Business Computer Programming. She is employed
by First Carolina Federal Savings Bank in Kings
Mountain.
The bridegroom-to-be is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Jerry Dean Tucker Sr. of Kings Mountain. He is a
1985 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and is
employed by Commercial Intertech in Kings
Mountain.
The wedding will be an event of May 20 in Boyce
Memorial ARP Church.

Hovis-Barrett
Eastside Baptist Church was the setting February 11
for the wedding of Julie Nicole Hovis and Brian
Charles Barrett.
Rev. Dale Thornburg officiated the ceremony for
which Eric Wright and Amy Ross were vocalists and
Joan Johnson was harpist.
The bride was given in marriage by her father.
Best man for the bridegroom was his father.
Crystal Bess of Kings Mountain was matron of hon-
or. Bridesmaids were Cristi Putnam and Bridget
Barrett of Kings Mountain and Stella Sturgill and’
Kristin Glenn of Gastonia. Carey Glenn of Kings
Mountain and LeAnna Boyles of Cherryville were
child attendants.
Ushers were Steve, Hovis, Damon Putnam and Gary
Bess, all of Kings Mountain, and Todd Bell of Shelby.
The bride's parents hosted the reception in the church
fellowship hall.
The bridegroom's mother hosted the rehearsal din-
ner February 10 in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert M. Hovis of Kings Mountain
are parents of the bride. A 1992 graduate of
Cherryville High School, she is employed in the
Business Office of Gaston Memorial Hospital.
The bridegroom, son of Steve Barrett and Freda
Barrett, both of Kings Mountain, is'a 1991 graduate of
Kings Mountain High School. He is employed as
Purchasing Agent by Cellular One in Shelby.
After-a wedding t¢ip to Gatlinburg, Tn., the newly-:
weds are residing in Kings Mountain.
MRS. TODD BRAWLEY ALEXANDER

First Presbyterian Church of Mooresville was the
setting for the January 14 wedding of Heather Roberts
Houston and Todd Brawley Alexander.
' Dr. S. Edwin Lewis officiated the ceremony for |
which Victor West, pianist; Monty Potter, organist;
John Hardin, trumpeter; and Shelley Rhodes and
Laverne Mohl, soloists, presented the nuptial music.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a
floor-length white silk shantung gown designed with
off-the-shoulder neckline, long fitted sleeves, and
.sheath skirt enhanced by a Cathedral-length train and
embellished with pearls and sequins. Her shoulder-
length veil of silk iliusion and pearls was attached to a
headpiece of silk shantung and pearl roses. She carried
a bouquet of Calla lilies.
Kourtney Houston was her sister's maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Beth Alexander of Mooresville, sis-
ter of the bridegroom; Paige Roberts of Gastonia and
Emily Tallon of Spartanburg,SC, cousins of the bride;
Cristin Curtis of Mooresville and Tina Harrington of
Sanford, college roommates of the bride; J'Neile
Whitlow of Mooresville and Stephanie Flynt of Chapel
Hill.
Honorary bridesmaids were Kristie Murrow, Lorie
Brown and Shannon Blackwelder.
The bridegroom's fraternity brother, Ray Wilson of
Greensboro was best man. Groomsmen, fraternity
brothers of the bridegroom, were Tom Staats of
Greensboro, Brendan Fitzpartick of Atlanta, and Wade
Bowman, Matt Bland and Tim Carney, all of Charlotte.
