School Briefs Kids Etc! joins Nancy Reagan program Kings Mountain District Schools Kids Etc. Program has been chosen to participate in the Nancy Reagan After school Program. The Reagan program combines the technology and appeal of video with the simple joy of hands-on ac- tivities. Videos portray real life sit- uations involving self-esteem, peer-pressure, substance abuse and related issues. They are designed to trigger lively discussions among the groups. The creative activities allow imagination and creativity to flour- ish in ways that make youth value themselves, their lives and others. Patsy Walker, director, feels that the program is important because "when a child's talents and creativi- ty are allowed to flourish they are much less likely to turn to negative behavior in search of attention: The creative spark, when kept lit, helps make the students feel alive, whole and valuable. "Kids Etc! can be a perfect place for children to realize the creative and imaginative skills within them- selves. Walker said the Reagan Program will start at Kids Etc! sites in March.
