Former Muslim
to speak at Faith
Timothy Abraham, a Christian
who converted from Islam, will
share his journey of faith Sunday,
Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. at Faith Baptist
Church, 1009 Linwood Road,
Kings Mountain. The public is in-
vited.
Abraham is a 27-year-old gradu-
ate student at Southeastern
Seminary. He converted to
Christianity seven years ago after
encouragement from a Christian
pen pal in Pennsylvania.
Abraham said he has been jailed
and beaten for his Christian beliefs
and was secretly baptized at a pas-
tor's home.

The charts projected that capital
outlay budget targets of $200,000
for natural gas, $200,000 for elec-
tric, and $600,000 for water and
sewer would be "in easy reach"
by the 1995-96 fiscal year.

Black History Month quiz bowl at St. Paul's
The 15 students who participat-
ed in the third annual Black
History Month Quiz Bowl
Saturday learned about their roots
and all came away winners.
Six churches participated in the
event at St. Paul's United
Methodist Church. As the 200
questions were posed by Margaret
Powell and Myetta Oates, the audi-
ence was all ears as most of the
students scored perfect scores.

King Jr. Most knew that one of the

Allison said students took a
number and received questions
pertaining to sports, music, reli-
gion, politics and education. _
"It was very educational and fun
because some of our kids had real-
ly studied the questions that we
had given them," she said.
Participating churches were St.
Paul's, Galilee Methodist, Mount
Zion Baptist, New Life Christian,
Vestibule AME Zion, and Bynum's
Chapel AME Zion.
Rev. Liston Sellers, pastor of the
host church, said the program re-
vealed positive things about youth,
