C. Highway Patrol. The subject of police protection dominated the agenda at Monday night's short Town Board meeting at Town Hall. Mayor Ronald Queen said he wanted to prevent any disagree- ment about Grover officers work- ing outside the town limits. No one spoke in opposition. Before the town hired its current part-time patrols, Commissioner Noel Spivey was vocal about his concern that former officers had spent too much time in assistance to other law enforcement agencies. The N. C. Highway Patrol has joined the Sheriff's Department in requesting a copy of the part time Grover patrol schedule. Council took no action on ac- cepting a federal grant for $35,000 to increase its patrols in a commu- nity-oriented policing effort which would require one full time police officer whose salary would be paid by the grant.
