Gault Jr., 83. died April 3. 1995 at Glenaire Retirement Center in Cary where he and his wife had resided tor some time. A native of Rutherford County, he was the son of the late Conway. Jackson and Dovie Buff Gault and was associated in the family busi- ness. C. J. Gault & Sons, for many.’ years when the store was located on North Piedmont Avenue. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and led church services at White Oak Manor with Hillard Black and Bill Russell for a number of years in a program started by the Russell Bible Class. A Mason, he was a Past Master of Fairview Lodge 339 AF&AM. Surviving are his wife, Nell Rose Ewing Gault; one daughter, Barbara G. Fox of Raleigh; one brother, Robert Gault of Gastonia; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Blankenship of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Mrs. Elizabeth Warlick of Shelby; three grand- children; and seven great-grand- children. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Central United Methodist Church. Rev. Harold Schwantes will officiate. Burial, with Masonic rites, will be held at Mountain Rest Cemetery. DOROTHY E. COX SPARTANBURG, SC. - Dorothy Earley Cox, 78, of Spartanburg died March 31, 1995 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain. A native of Kings Mountain, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Beecher and Cuba Cashion Earley, and wife of the late James A Cox. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Spartanburg, where she was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Survivors include two daughters, Judith Cockrell of Melbourne, Fla., and Sandra Shaw of Silver Spring, Md.; six grandchildren; two great- grandchildren; one sister, Rebecca George of Kings Mountain; and one brother, Robert Earley of Greensboro. The funeral was conducted by the Revs. Marion Clark and Stanley Whitten Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. MARY LEDFORD MOSS Mary Ledford Moss, 90, 305 West Mountain Street, Kings Mountain, died March 28, 1995 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Lee and Lily Long Ledford, and "wife of the late Charles H. Moss Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of First Presbyterian. “Church. She is survived by her son, Charles H. Moss Jr. of Kings Mountain; two grandsons, Charles: H. Moss III of St. Croix and John Moss of Bradenton, Florida; a granddaughter, Mrs. Candace Underwood of Columbus, Ga.; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mrs. Marie Moss Kezziah. The funeral was conducted by Dr. Richard Newsome Friday at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church. "JIM" CARROLL BOILING SPRINGS - James Wylie "Jim" Carroll, 88, B.J.'s Rest Home, died March 29, 1995 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John and Minnie Goforth Carroll and hus- band of the late Della Hardin Carroll. He was a retired farmer. He is survived by his daughter, Frances Carroll Ellis of Grover; a brother, George Carroll of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Audrey Hancock of Waco and Pauline Perkins of Kings Mountain; three grandchildren, and two great- grandchildren. A graveside service was con- ducted by the Rev. Tim Lowery Friday at 2 p.m. at Patterson Grove Baptist Church cemetery. RUTH E. MESSENGER Ruth Elizabeth Messenger, 78, 119 Country Meadow Lane, died March 22, 1995 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Jamestown, NY, she was the daughter of the late William Raistrick and Alice Bland Raistrick and wife of the late Wilson L. Messenger. She was a retired foreman from Jamestown Veneer Company. Messenger of 119 Country Meadow Lane, Kings Mountain; three grandchildren, David and Daniel Messenger and Jody Davis; and one great-grandchild, Keiffer Davis of Kings Mountain; one brother, Raymond Raistrick of San Dicgo, CA; and one sister, Mrs. Mavis Mead of Gerry, NY. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Raistrick. A graveside service was con- ducted by Dr. John W. Sloan Saturday, March 25, 1995, at 3 p.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery. JULIA GRANT BLESSEMER CITY - Julia F Grant, 74, formerly of Bess Town Road, died March 31, 1995 at Lincoln County Hospital. A native of Gastonia, she was the daughter of the late Cora ~ Elizabeth Kaylor and William Reese Fite, and wife of the late Vernal H. Grant. She was a home- maker. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Shelia P. Grant of Bessemer City; two daughters, Penny Mauney of Cherryville and Peppi Grant of Bessemer City; three brothers, Rufus Fite of Kings Mountain, Bud Fite of Okeechobee, Fla., and Jim Fite of Greensboro; two sisters, Edna Allen of Belmont and Ethel Dedmon of Zephyrhills, Fla; five grandchildren; and four great- grandsons. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. George Willis Monday at 2 p.m. at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Westview Gardens. Pallbearers were Scott Grant, Vern Grant, Jason Mauney, Ben Thompson, Tim Nanke, and Bart Truesdale. GARRY MYERS DALLAS - Garry Myers, 45, Highway 278, died March 30, 1995 at 10:22 a.m. at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Robbinsville, he was a truck driver for Hersch Express Inc. of Shelby. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Mary Colvard Brown of San Angelo, Texas; his father and step- mother, Walter and Mildred Myers of Kings Mountain; four sons, Christopher Myers of High Shoals, David Myers of Bessemer City, Colt Myers of Dallas and Charles Myers of Clover, SC; two daugh- ters, Elizabeth Myers of Dallas and Crystal Myers of Clover, SC; a brother, Tony Myers of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Donna-Williams of Lubbuck «Texas; and three step-sisters, She is survived by her son, Don. Rhonda Dinone of New. York City, NY, Rita Barber of Deltone, Fla., and Jamie Maddox of Gastonia. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. Dale Thornburg Sunday at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. J.C. HOYLE POLKVILLE - J.C. Hoyle, 76, 107 Green Drive, died April 4, 1995 at his home. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Mittie Hoyle. He was a retired card tender with Ora Mill Company and was a charter member of Lawndale Missionary Methodist Church where he served as a Board mem- ber. He is survived by his wife, Pearlie Mae Hunt Hoyle; son and daughter-in-law, Billy J. and Linda Hoyle of Kings Mountain; daugh- ter and son-in-law, Nancy H. and Tonnie Cooke of Casar; three grandchildren, Stahr Hoyle, Brian Cooke and Jacob Cooke; and four great-grandchildren. He was pre- ceded in death by two brothers, Clyde Hoyle and Ambrose Hoyle, and two sisters, Bert Hoyle and Annie Hoyle. The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Lamar Hewitt, H.S. Scruggs and Fred Towery Thursday at 2 p.m. at Lawndale Missionary Methodist Church. The body will lie in state for 30 minutes ELSIE HASTINGS BESSEMER CITY - Elsie Walker Hastings, 89, formerly of Route 1, Dallas, died April 2, 1995 at Brian Center in Lincolnton. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Adam and Nancy White Walker, and wife of the late Roland Hastings. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Bethea Methodist Church in Bessemer City for 39 years where she sang in the choir. She is survived by her son, R.S. Hastings of Spring Valley, NY; three daughters, Connie Holland of Bessemer City, Esther Reep of Kings Mountain and Jackie Standridge of Charlotte; a sister, Lula Fisher of Morganton; 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchil- dren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by Dr. Gene Kincaid Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Bethea Methodist Church. Burial was in Westview Gardens. CARL JACKSON SR. Carl Norman Jackson Sr., 62, Long Branch Road, Kings Mountain, died March 31, 1995 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late Fred and Georgia Ellis Jackson Henson. He was a retired brick mason. He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Dale Jackson of Bessemer City and Carl Norman Jackson Jr. of Birmingham, Ala; two daugh- ters, Donna J. Mitchell of Kings Mountain and Tracy Lynn Jackson of Bessemer City; a step-brother, Master Sgt. H.C. Henson of Ft. Hood, Texas; a sister, Jo Ann Huntsinger of Dallas; a step-sister, Linda McLaurin of Fayetteville; and three grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by the Rev. George Willis Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Burial was in Bessemer City Memorial Cemetery. Kings Mountain Weather Report prior to the service.
