WILLIAM DANNY CLAMPETT (Crystal Jean McMillan) McMillan-Clampett Rustic Hills Baptist Church was the setting Saturday for the 2 p.m. wedding uniting Crystal Jean McMillan and William Danny Clampett. Rev. Dennis Gomez, pastor of Harvest Baptist Church, officiated the double-ring ceremony which in- cluded the lighting of the Unity candle. Vickie Grigg was pianist and Danny Harvell was “vocalist for the program of nuptial music. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She wore a formal gown of ivory lace and beaded tulle fea- turing puffs at the shoulders of the long sleeves. The long skirt extended into a Chapel train. Her waist- length veil of illusion was attached to a beaded head- piece. She carried a bouquet of ivory roses. Cathy McMillan was her sister's maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Ralene McMillan of Dallas, sister- in-law of the bride, and Tammy Clampett of Bessemer City, sister of the bridegroom. Danielle Burchfield of Gastonia was flower girl. Josh Brooks, nephew of the bridegroom, was ringbear- er. The bridegroom's father was best man. Ushers were Jonathan McMillan of Dallas, brother of the bridegroom, and Donnie Williams of Gastonia. The bride's parents hosted the reception in the church fellowship hall where the green, burgundy and livory theme of the wedding was featured in decorative {details 1 Charles Clampett hosted the rehearsal dinner Friday night at Pier 66 Restaurant. The bride is the daughter of Danny and Verlinda McMillan of Gastonia. She is a 1992 graduate of Hunter Huss HIgh School and attended Gaston |College. She is the granddaughter of Jeri Jordan and Homer McMillan. The bridegroom is the son of Charlie and Anna |Clampett of Bessemer City. He is a 1991 graduate of Bessemer City High School and attended Gaston College. He is the grandson of May and Thomas Clampett and Marjorie Carter. Numerous parties precede the glittering ball. The first ball was held on June 7, 1946 with 31 debs at the Shelby Armory. Accepting invitations as sponsors of the ball were 24 high school girls from Shelby, one from Hickory, two from Kings Mountain and four from Lincolnton. The idea of a ball was conceived by the late Mrs. Isabel Hoey Paul with the late Mrs. Norris Lackey as official chairman and Mrs. Paul as debutante chairman. The project, which was to grow into one of Western North Carolina's most prestigious social events, was pat- terned after the annual state debu- tante ball in Raleigh.
