Page-6B-THE KINGS MOUNTAIN HERALD-Thursday, June 1, 1995 Washington Elementary presents patriotic musical A patriotic musical, "Moods of America,” was a rave hit at Washington Elementary School last week. More than 300 students were on stage during a 45-minute produc- tion that began with "Yankee Doodle Dandy" in 1776 and ended with an All-American red, white and blue finale featuring a color guard and the singing of "God Bless America." Principal Carole McDaniel said the children had worked hard for several weeks on music and cos- tume to present what was a Memorial Day salute Thursday af- ternoon and again Thursday night with songs and periods that had highlighted the country's 200-plus year history. The program began with Lindsay Bingham announcing the production and readers Kelli Harris and Jerome Howell. Robert Ryan, Chris Chambers, David Howell, Justin Marlowe, Lebaron Burston, Palladin Carter, Cedrick Geter, Donald Peace and Allan VanBuren were decked out as "Yankee Doodle Dandy." Shila Robbs and Arlene Pugh in- troduced the 1810 rendition of "Davy Crockett" by Chad Huntsinger, Daniel Hope, Cedric Ross, Dustin Costner, Aaron Haynes, Larry Baxter, Randy Vinson, Antonio Degree, Harvey Degree, Casey Biddix, Devin Simpson, Justin Snellings and Eric Howell. LaDonna Brown and Kyle Martin stepped up to the micro- phone to present the 1840 "McNamara's Band," which in- cluded Chris Carrier, Jared Baxter, Eric Lovelace, Dashaund Key, Travis Jones, Gary Emery, Chris McLean, Tarus Washington, Travis Martin, Kenny Cooper and Kirk Smith. Dayne Hamrick and Shila Robbs presented the 1850 "Camptown Races" featuring Sammy Deyton, Brady Porter, Cody Barrett, Andrea Smith, Joe Bingham, Mary Ellen Harris, Andrew Haskett, Lindsey Littlejohn, Reagon Hill and Amanda Wilson. Next up were LaDonna Brown and Colin Simpson who introduced the 1890's "In The Good Old Summertime," featuring Jaime Trammell, Mikey Wilson, , LaQuinta _Rorie, Josh Spikes, : Hoyle, Brandy Sauls, Sarah Allen Ciepra Brown, «Larry Howell, Angela Barrett, Mikey Ingle, Amber Bradley, David Wilson, Johnida Smith and Javis Bridges. The 1900 "Sixteen Tons" were Mark Parker, Quantrel Smith, “Tyrell Fuller, Todd Martin, Josh -Tzokovic, Jason Navy, Justin Williams, Shiloh Stewart, Mitchell Heavener and Chris Frye. Dustin Beam and Arlene Pugh introduced the 1905 version of "Put A Nickel in the Nickelodeon" in- cluding Melissa Beck, Sierra Stewart, Allison Borders, Katie Auten, Antonio Williams, Chelsy and Sonya Dunlap. "Goodbye My Coney Island Boy," from 1913 was presented by Demetric Ross, Latoya Kilgore, Sonny Neill, Nola Henderson, Casey Ross, Tiara Wilson, Scott Washington, Ashley Maddox, Steven Vandergrift and Heather Bradley. "By The Sea" was pre- sented by LaToya Howell, Lisa Bingham and Christie Huntsinger. The year 1917 was remembered with "Over There" by Clay Costner, Michael Peace, Clay Stamey, Courtney Baxter, Devin Nolan-Bader, Kenny Glyumph, Daniel Beam, Kevin Washington and Dayne Hamrick. The 1920 era's "Alexander's Ragtime Band" was presented by Ebony Hopper, Michelle Varner, Amber Snyder, Shauna Porter, L.aChanda Broome, Tierra Robbs, Chrissy Buchanan, Melanie Varner, Michelle Murray, Heather Brown and Mercedes Owens. The 1935 featured song was "Accentuate the Positive" and was presented by Shakiah Scott, Jonathan Hargett, Sheneaka Lenair, Robert Carrier, Michelle Tuft, Timmy McKee, India Lewis, Joaqgin Minter, Jessica Hope and Tamera Robinson. Tyrell Fuller portrayed the role of the minister and introduced "Mairzy Doats" by Alicia Littlejohn, Stephanie Bradley, Veronica Van Dyke, Ashley Shull, Melissa Hudson and Dominique Hamilton and the 1941 favorite "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" by Danielle Robinson, Silvia Hudson, Lisa Bingham, Elizabeth Horne, Arlene Pugh, LaDonna Brown, Amanda Weedon, Kayla Mowery, LaToya Howell and Christie Huntsinger. Todd Martin and Clay Stamey introduced the 1950's with "Standing on the Corner" by Colin Simpson, Kyle Martin, Brent Homesley, C. J. Haynes, Zachary Johnson, Antonio Ross, Simon Philbeck, Dustin Beam, Nat Auten and Josh Marlowe. Michelle Murray, Dayne Harmick and Chelsey Hoyle set the theme ..for.the 1961 era with “rCamelot” ‘which! featured Vince Campbell, Alyse Campbell, Robbie Harris, Brittaney Chaney, Namon Byers, Chantee Brown, Josh Brooks, Jessica Ryan, Dwight Littlejohn and Brittany Chambers. Colin Simpson and Kyle Martin introduced 1968 and "Elvira" fea- turing Nakitta Roberts, Amanda Howell, Kelly Broome, Jessica Oxford, Sara Kocher, Latoreeya Floyd, Ashley Mayes, Jamie Efird, WINS SCHOLARSHIP - The Cleveland County School Food Service Association met recently at Jefferson School in Shelby and the Kings Mountain Association awarded a $300 scholarship to Sarah Hamrick. Sarah is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Hamrick and will attend Cleveland Community College.
