Lancaster, 81, of 107 Lancaster Drive, died June 19, 1995 at Kings Mountain Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born January 26, 1914 at White Stone, SC, daughter of the late William H. and Maude McBride Jones. She attended the White Stone Springs and Pacolet, SC Schools. On June 10, 1933 she married Paul A. Lancaster at Jonesville, SC. They settled in Kings Mountain in 1954 and both'became active in the Bethlehem Baptist Church of which she was a mem- ber for 41 years. A Sunday School teacher and director for many years in the women's adult and youth de- partments, she was also a past di- rector of the Women's Missionary Union with an avid interest in he Girls Auxiliary. She is survived by her husband, Paul A. Lancaster; one daughter, Bette Passamani of Iron River, Michigan; one son, Hugh Lancaster of Kings Mountain; one sister, Eloise Wingo of Woodruff, SC; three brothers, Cecil Jones of Spartanburg SC, Homer Jones of Moore, SC and Donald Jones of Inman, SC ; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and nu- merous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two sis- ters, Tonia Jones and Ruth Charles and four brothers, Bernard, Arden, Ralph and Leon Jones. The funeral will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Rev. William Bennett, Rev. Russell Fitts and Rev. Harold Beam will officiate., Burial will follow at 4 p.m. in Sulphur Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Pauline, SC. KATHY CANIPE Kathy Sisk Canipe, 45, of 122 Stony Ridge Dr., died June 18, 1995 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. She was the wife of Donald Hilton Canipe and a homemaker. Daughter of Carl Sisk and Geneva Mills Sisk, both of Kings Mountain, she was a member of i Piedmont Baptist Church. 8 survivors are two sons, To dd Shipman of Gastonia and Mark Shipman of Bentonville, Arkansas; one daughter, Keisha Kirkland of Kings Mountain; one brother, Bruce Sisk of Kings Mountain; two sisters, Patsy Williams and Doris Martin, both of Kings Mountain; and one grand- child. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 4 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Rev. James Williams offi- ciated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. FOLEY P. COBB JR. Foley P. Cobb Jr., 71, of 1125 Rollingbrook Court, died June 19, 1995 in Hillhaven Nursing Home in Gastonia. A Kings Mountain native, he was the son of the late Foley P. and Ruth Bennett Cobb. He was a retired textile employ- ee and a World War II Army veter- an. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church. Surviving are his companion, Sarah Katherine "Kitty" Cobb of Kings Mountain; two sons, Roger "Pete" Cobb of Kings Mountain and Johnny Cobb of Bessemer City; one stepson, Mickey Moss of Kings Mountain; one brother, Donald Cobb of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Dorothy Tignor and Bonnie Horn of Kings Mountain and Betty Metz of Panama Beach, Fla., and three grandchildren. The funeral was conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Resurrection Lutheran Church. Rev. John Futterer officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. BERNICE W. SIMMONS Bernice Wright Simmons, 90, 409 Phifer Road, Kings Mountain, died June 16, 1995 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Julius and Lula Humphries Wright, and wife of the late John D. Simmons Sr. She was a homemak- er and a member of First Baptist Church. is She is tivived by her grandchil- dren, Sandy Lavier of Greensboro, Chip Harmon of Kings Mountain, Lynn Dewitt of Concord, Terri Wright of Mooresville, and John Simmons of Wake Forest; a broth- er, Beck Wright of Grover; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted by Dr. John Sloan Sunday at 3 p.m. at Harris Chapel. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. JUNIOR G. SHORT Junior G. Short, 61, 108 Benfield Road, Kings Mountain, died June 19, 1995 at Carolinas Medical Center. A native of Kings Mountain, he was the son of the late Robert Lee and Ollie Smith Short. He was em- ployed by the State of North Carolina and was a member of Piedmont Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Annette Moss Short of Kings Mountain; a son, Rodney Short of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Kim Ramey and Selena Short of Kings Mountain; six sisters, Vera Dellinger, Alice McNeill, Lillie Mae Walker, Frances Smith, Mildred Petrucelli and Beulah Davis, all of Kings Mountain; and four grandchildren. A native of Gaston County, she was the widow of William Jake England and the daughter of the late Henry and Betty Blackwell Myers. She had served as pianist for Second Baptist Church and Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church for many years. She was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. Surviving is one sister, Mrs. Wyona Pearson of Kings Mountain. The funeral was conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at Harris Chapel by Rev. Mitchell Pruitt. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. WILLA JENKINS Willa Mae Woodard Jenkins, 73, of Cherry Oaks Nursing Home in Cherryville, died June 12, 1995 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A homemaker, she was the wid- ow of Frank Jenkins and the daughter of Mrs. Bessie Sowders of Cherryville and the late Neviah Woodard. She was the sister of the late William Willard. Surviving are one sister, Ada Nichols of Newark, Ohio and her friend and companion, Joann Hedrick of Bessemer City. The funeral was conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of Sisk-Butler Funeral Home in Bessemer City. Rev. Frank Howard officiated. Burial was in Westview Gardens. ROBERT D. DAVIES Robert D. "Bob" Davies, 73, of 417 Scotland Dr., died June 19, 1995 at home. A native of Dodgeville, Wisc., he was the son of the late Orren and Annie McCutchin Davies and was husband of Florence Cushman Davies. He was a retired mining engi- neer, a past Commander of Yorker 94 Chrysler Lebaron Landau $13,997 American Legion Post 155 and District 23 American Legion and a past Commander of the Frank B. Glass VFW. HE ‘was active in vet- erans affairs locally and state-wide. He was a member of White Plains Shrine Club and a World War II Army veteran. The graveside service will be conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mountain Rest Cemetery. Rev. Terry Bird will officiated. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 201 W. Marion St., Shelby, 28150. SAMUEL A. NASH JR. BESSEMER CITY - Samuel Abbott Nash Jr., 58, 110 E. Maine Ave., died June 19, 1995 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. A native of Bessemer City, he was the son of the late Samuel Abbott Nash Sr. and Ruby Wesson Nash. He was a sales representa- tive and owned and operated Nash Textiles. He formerly worked at Reeves Brothers Osage Plant, Gurney Industries and Springs Mills. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife, Maxine York Nash; one son, SSgt. Samuel A. Brown of Camp Lejeune, Jacksonville; a daughter, Elizabeth Terry of Port St. Joe, Fla.; a step-daughter, Katrina Cassell of Charlotte; a sister, Olivia Mayhew of Kings Mountain; two grandchildren, Isaac and Nina Hall; and one step-granddaughter, Kara Hemphill. The funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Larry McClure Thursday at 2 p.m. at Sisk-Butler Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Westview Gardens.
