Jerry Cagle, pastor of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, officiated the ceremony for which Joan Johnson was harpist and Brenda Williams was flutist. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, L. S. "Shep" Hamrick. Mrs. Claire H. Brown of Fuquay Varina was her sis- ter's matron of honor and only attendant. Jeffrey S. Jones of Raleigh, son of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Paul H. Brown of Fuquay Varina, Justin Jones of Forest City and Matthew Jones of Raleigh. Mrs. Jeffrey Jones kept the guest register. The bride's mother hosted the reception after the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. O. V. Hamrick Jr. of Shelby and the late Mr. Hamrick. A graduate of Wingate College and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, she is Vice-President of Shelby Paint & Glass Company Inc. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. O. V. Hamrick and Mrs. Nina Thonton. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon A. Jones of Shelby. He attended Byscane Southern in Charlotte and is employed as Sales and Service Manager of Shelby Paint & Glass Company Inc. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. P. C. Blanton and the late Mr. and Mrs. Lore L. Jones. After a wedding trip to the North Carolina moun- tains the newlyweds will be at home in Shelby. MRS. Dennis Aldridge and Rev. Lloyd Sanders offi- ciated the ceremony for which Angie Epley and Russell Cloninger were vocalists and Libby Stone was pianist. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Amy Dellinger of Pinehurst was maid of honor and bridesmaids were Angie Epley of Forest City and Angela Atchley of Shelby. Best man for the bridegroom was his father. Tommy Harrelson and Scott Stone, both of Kings Mountain, ushered. Maria Aldridge kept the register. Louise Sanders directed the wedding. Melinda Poston distributed birdseed bags. The bride's parents hosted the reception after the ceremony in the church fellowship hall. The Ormand reunion is also known as "The Old Furnace Picnic" and ranks among the oldest consecutive reunions in America. James Ormand and his son set- tled on land, from the Catawba River to Long Creek, granted to them in 1754 by George II, King of England.
