The Kings Mountain Fire Department has vintage films in which local folk may see themselves in the movies. Fire Chief Frank Burns said the collection of films made by H. Lee Waters in 1938-41 depict local people and street scenes in down- town Kings Mountain. One video runs 35 minutes and the other runs 45 minutes. One set is black and white and one set is in color. The videos cost $20 for one or $35 for the two-video set. Burns has shown the video at city events but now has copies which are available at the fire sta- tion and will be sold at Mountaineer Day October 7. Film collector Philip White of Cliffside tracked down the photog- rapher some years ago while he was helping plan an anniversary celebration for Cliffside School. After some research the Cliffside Principal found the original cam- eraman H. Lee Waters and over 100 hours of original footage and reels stored in Waters' carport in Lexington. White secured all the footage that Waters had shot in ALYSUN ELAINE CRAWFORD Alysun Crawford celebrates first birthday August 2 Alysun Elaine Crawford, daugh- ter of David and Helen Crawford of 105 Marigold Ave., celebrated her first birthday August 2.
