Miss Freeman is a senior at Kings Mountain High
School where she is active in the Chorale and on the
softball and volleyball teams. She is employed at
Eckerd's Drug Store.
The bridegroom-to-be is a graduate of Kings
Mountain High School where he was active on the
baseball and soccer teams. He is employed by Hoechst
Celanese.

Mr. and Mrs. Donald Carpenter of Gastonia are par-
ents of the bride who is a graduate of Ashbrook High
School. She holds a BA degree from N. C. State
University at Raleigh and a BS degree from UNC at
Greensboro She is employed as a clinical dietitian at
Gaston Memorial Hospital in Gastonia.
The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe
Scruggs of Kings Mountain. He is a graduate of Kings
Mountain High School and received his B.S. degree
from Appalachian ‘State University. He is employed by
kuma Machine Téols in Charlotte as a manufacturing
engineer.
After a wedding trip to Cancun, Mexico the newly-
weds will be at home at 121 Weeping Willow Way in
Gastonia.

Paulette, to Wesley Owens Herndon, son of Mr. and

Kings Mountain.
The bride-elect is a graduate of Camden High
School and Converse College and is Youth Director at
Park Street Baptist Church in Columbia, SC and a pi-
ano teacher at Kershaw County Fine Arts Center. She
is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Truesdale
and Pearl B. Munn and the late R. D. Munn.
The bridegroom-to-be is a graduate of Lugoff-Elgin
High School and is pursuing an accounting degree at
the University of South Carolina. He is employed as
Controller/Estimator at Herndon Inc. He is a Kershaw
County School Board trustee. He is the grandson of
Fred M. Owens of Kings Mountain and the late
Martha C. Owens and Evelena K. Noor and the late
William A. Herndon.
The wedding will take place January 6, 1996.
