Cecil Keeter, 814 Grace St., report- ed damage to a screen from a window. that vandals threw a cup of nails in his driveway. Lois Townsend, 5006 Tara Court, reported that the windshield of her car was damaged by someone using a block of wood. Johnny Lewis Jones, 430 Chesterfield Dr., Shelby, reported theft of his 1983 Thunderbird valued at $800 and theft of a tackle box, fishing rods and reels and a tool box valued at $1530. The car was reportedly stolen from the parking lot at Piedmont Depot Stop N Go. The license plate number is HZR 6840. Kings Mountain Senior Center re- ported that someone broke the steering column of a 1985 Ford LTD owned by the city of Kings Mountain. Nell Waters, Landing St., reported theft of a cast iron lawn table. two seater chair and a single seat chair, all in green, from her residence. The furni- ture is valued at $300. Linda McNeely, 955-7 Bethlehem Church Rd., reported that someone forged her name to two checks totaling $250 and cashed them at First Union National Bank. Sheila Camp, 412 St. Luke's Church Rd., reported theft of a wallet from Movie Palace containing currency and her driver's license. Sylvia Harbinson, 524 Baker St., re- ported theft of rims from a bicycle which was chained to her back porch. Ronald Byrd, 29 Carolina Gardens, said his 1995 Hyundai was scratched by an unknown driver in the parking lot area at Parrish drive. Angela Hillman, 200 Parrish Dr., re- ported the theft of a pitcher of Koolaid and a cooked pork chop from her kitchen by someone who cut the screen at a window. Elizabeth Parker, 403 Hillside Dr., reported that the trunk and hood of her 1987 Nissan were damaged $300. A white Chevrolet truck reported stolen by Village of Bethel, 120 N. Main St., Bethel, Ohio, was recovered in a church yard on East Parker Street. The vehicle was valued at $2500. Revco Drug, 1318 Shelby Rd., re- ported that a customer took razors and other unknown items from the store and did not pay for them. Charles Adams, 107 Butternut Dr., and Donald Jackson, 109 Butternut Dr., reported that their mailboxes were damaged $190 by hit and run drivers. Wade Ford, 910 Shelby Rd. reported theft of tires and rims from a 1995 Ford truck valued at nearly $600. Jackie Batchler, 209 Bridges St., re- ported felonious larceny from her car parked at 205 West Mountain Street. Two cellular telephones, two billfolds and some currency were taken. Pizza Hut, Highway 74 Bypass, re- ported that a customer ordered $28 worth of food and ate it in the restau- rant and left the store without paying the Soil Food Lion, 1320 Shelby Rd., report- ed that a customer concealed a half gallon of ice cream in his pants and al- legedly assaulted the manager. Sgt. Bob Myers is continuing the investiga- tion into the incident which occurred September 26. Jafar Talib, 44, of 3464 Monteak Dr., Charlotte, reported that he was bit on the left shoulder by a dog at 807 Boyce Street. Arthur Biltcliffe, 103 N. Goforth St, reported larceny of two pairs of blue- jeans. Glenda Saltzman, 527 Baker St., re- ported that a window screen on her house was damaged. Charlie Etters, 208 Bridges St,. re- ported theft of a Gold Star microwave and two VCRs during a break-in at his residence. Sagesport Inc. 119 W. Mountain St. reported that a customer distracted a clerk while $179.95 in merchandise was removed from the store. Reported stolen were two sweatshirts and a pair of Adias valued at $179.95. Mauney Hosiery, S. Cansler St., re- ported that someone broke into a stor- age facility. Damages were reported at $213.50. WRECKS SEPT. 23 Ptl. Chris Owens said that Rodney McCarter, of Clover, SC, was backing his 1994 Chevrolet from a parking space at Harris-Teeter and struck a parked 1993 Buick owned by Darnelle Williams, 1212 Northwoods Dr. Damages were estimated at $625. SEPT. 25 Pil. J. H. Tessneer said that cars op- erated by William Lester Blanton, 316 El Bethel Road, and Victor Edward Simmons, 115 N. City St., hit at the light at Piedmont and East King Street. Damages were estimated at $2300. Ptl. H. W. Carpenter said that two cars hit at a burned out light on Mountain Street and Watterson doing $2300 damage. The drivers were listed as Maybelle Jones, 216 Walker St., op- erating a 1986 Chrysler, and Ann Lunn Leduc, of Charlotte, operating a 1995 Ford. Sgt. Bob Myers said that a 1985 Oldsmobile operated by Duncan Eric Patterson, 1220 N. Lafayette St., Shelby, struck a 1978 Oldsmobile on west Highway 74 as Arthur Lee Rondo, 1135 Bridges St. Shelby, at- tempted to turn onto the KM Plaza parking area. The cars were damaged $1500. SEPT. 26 Ptl. T. B. Fletcher said that a 1988 Chevrolet operated by Johnny Barnes Jr, 902 W. Charlotte Ave., Mount Holly, struck a 1989 Ford operated by Melissa Elaine Bolin, 405 York Rd. at the traffic light at King Street and York Road. Steven Skinner said a 15-year- old student driving on a learner's per- mit pulled into the intersection of Cansler and King Street in front of a 1978 Oldmobile operated by Ernest Hannay, Bessemer City, doing $3500. Skinner said Hannay and a teenager in the1965 Chevrolet truck were reported- ly hurt but refused transportation to the hospital. Ptl. R. L. Creech said that a parked 1993 Ford was damaged $75 when a 1985 Mack truck operated by Aaron Braoch of Stanley "brushed" it in the parking lot at Bridges Hardware. The car is owned by Raeford White of 507 City Street. SEPT. 28 Motorcyclist Travis Leon Bess, 27, of 919 Grace St. Apt. C, was transport- ed to Cleveland Memorial Hospital for treatment after he was struck by a driv- er who didn't stop at the traffic light at King and Gaston Streets, according to Ptl. Larry Ware. Bess was thrown from his motorcycle and landed 61 feet from the point of impact, according to the police report. The car was located on Parker Street at Gaston Street with no driver. Witnesses said that the Vehicle was occupied by two white males. The car had been reported stolen by: Village of Bethel, Bethel, Ohio. The vehicles were damaged $5500. ,X SEPT. 29 -, A 17-year-old student was cited for safe movement violation after the 1992 Honda she was operating .on West Mountain Street struck a 1992 Jeep op- erated by Ronald Lee Franks, 512 Deerfield Dr. The vehicles were dam- aged $2800. Carpenter said that Doris Wortman McDaniel, 1203 Bethlehem Rd., was backing a school bus on Spruce Street in the wrong direction and struck a 1987 Nissan operated by Keesha Davis, 1712 Northwoods Dr, doing $850 damage. Fletcher said Watts and a passenger were transported to Kings Mountain Hospital for treat- ment of injuries. & dA KF 8% inate Officer Weaver to attend forum Kevin Weaver, son of Walter and Geraldine. Weaver of Kings Mountain, was recently among 35 officers selected nationwide by their Chiefs of Police to attend a Police Executive Research Forum in Chicago, Il. The officers covered processes that will carry law en- forcement into the 21st Century. Weaver will be part of a four per- son team from the Charlotte Police Department who will be doing pro- cess mapping of several depart- ment functions to help restructure the newly merged Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department. A 1984 graduate of Kings Mountain High School and a 1989 graduate of Western Carolina University, he has served previous- ly as a community coordinator, a narcotic's investigator in the Drug Interdiction Bureau and as a traffic officer in the HIghway Interdiction Team. He currently holds the rating of Senior Police Officer I. Weaver and his wife, Audra, and their two children, Christian and Krystal, re- side in Charlotte.
