The girls teams include: Under 14, Corry, Cerwin and Luptak; under - 11, King Mountain Eye Clinic and Rogers Pontiac; and under nine, ¥ PSU. The boys teams are: Under 14, Cloninger and Neisler; Under 8, Shuford Heating, Under 10, Hoechst Celanese; Under 10, Fasco B Controls; and Under 6, Fitch Body } Shop. In soccer action, CC&L defeated Spake 4-2. Laura Propst scored twice and Meghan Potter and Shena Owens added a goal each. CC&L was beaten 4-a by Horn WEst Horn with a goal by Meghan Potter, and lost 3-1 to Coldwell. Carrie Brinkley scored in that game and Erin Wilson and Lindsey Hamrick had good defensive ef- forts. In boys under 14, C&N was de- feated 9-3 by One-Stop. Kevin Teague, Ellis Sansikone and Zack Ramey scored for C&N. Zach Putnam scored for Shuford, In girls under 9, PSU lost 7-0 to Cordell Clinic but tied BB&T 1-1. Katie Cooke scored that goal and Emily Edwards and Blair Heffner stood out on defense. The Lady Mountaineers won to pull into a tie for first place in the Southwestern 3-A Conference. KM spikers beat Wildcats to gain share of SWC lead Kings Mountain High's girls vol- leyball team moved into a tie for first place in the Southwestern 3-A Conference Monday with a 15-6, 15-4, 15-6 victory over North Gaston. The Lady Mountaineers were scheduled to end their regular sea- son Wednesday at Burns against Burns and East Rutherford. The SWC tournament will be played next week. Kings Mountain, the perennial SWC champion, had to forfeit its match to North Gaston earlier in Thunder and Thunder and Lightning subsided somewhat but still managed to hold onto their share of first place in Mixed Duckpin Bowling League action Thursday night at Dilling Heating. Both teams divided their games, Thunder with the Moose Heads and Lightning with the Alley Rats. Their records are now 20-12, fol- lowed by the Moose Heads at 16- 16 and the Rats at 8-24. John Dilling's 166 line and 378 set led the Moose Heads against Thunder. Ronnie Scruggs was the RONNIE GRIGG the season. After defeating the Wildcats, KM found it had used an ineligible player and reported the matter to North Gaston and state officials. ‘ If Kings Mountain and North Gaston are still tied for first after regular season play, the team that advances the farthest in the SWC tournament will draw the SWC's top seed for the upcoming state playoffs. The Lady Mountaineers were charged up and ready to go in Monday's home match. Before a huge Senior Night crowd they re- bounded from an early 3-0 deficit in the first game to easily defeat the Wildcats. "I thought the whole team played very well," said Coach Diana Bridges. "I was really pleased with the effort." Prior to the game, the school honored its senior players and their parents. Seniors included captains Tina and Tami Welch, Misty Smith, Jessica Koeger, Patricia Freeman, Autumn Edsall and Katie Benton. Lightning still share lead biggest crack of Thunder with a 117 line and 312 set. The biggest rat at the alley was Allen Myers who bowled a 142 line and 353 set. Tommy Barrett had a pair of 119 games and a 346 set for Lightning. BM In Tuesday night action, the first place Antiques were swept by: the last place Dream Team but still managed to hold onto a two-game lead over Bullwinkle of Friends, a 6-2 winner over Family Affair. The Antiques are now 20-12, Bullwinkle and Friends 18-14, Family Affair 16-16 and Dream Team 10-12. Mark Midgette bowled a 150 line and 361 set and Chris Hullender added a 134 line and 353 set to lead the Dream Team over the Antiques. John Dilling's 122 line and 345 set topped the losers. Chuck: Ruley rolled a 126 line and 321 set and Robbie Hullender added a 117-318 to lead Bullwinkle and Friends over Family Affair.
