Kings Mountain High's JV foot-
ball team posted its second straight
victory Thursday night at Burns,
27-13.
The Mountaineers, 2-0 in the
Southwestern Conference and 2-4
overall, were led offensively by
Joseph Bell with three 60-yard
scoring runs and Keyota Huskey
with a 60-yard touchdown pass
from quarterback Mark Roper.
The Mountaineers return home
after a long absence this Thursday
to host Shelby's Lions. Game time
is 7 p.m.
KMHS volleyball
team wins SW 3-A
Kings Mountain High's girls vol-
leyball team defeated North Gaston
last week for the Southwestern 3-A
Conference tournament crown and
the #1 seeding for the state play-
offs.
The Lady Mountaineers were .
scheduled to open playoff action at
home last night against Erwin High
of Asheville.
Kings Mountain's Tami Welch
was named SWC most valuable
player and was joined on the all-
tournament team by Tina Welch,
Catie Brannon, Nancy Ely and
Jessica Koeger.
Making the All-Conference team
for KMHS were Tina and Tami
Welch and Catie Brannon.
Halloween Bash set
at Community Center
The N.A.W.A. returns to the
Kings Mountain Community
Center October 28 at 8 p.m. for a
Halloween Bash.
The main event will be a world
tag team championship bout featur-
ing the champion Ringlords against
Kevin Kirby and Jake Mulligan.
The American G.I. and Dozer
from Kings Mountain will defend
their U.S. titles against Damage
Inc.
Scotty Hot Body will face Jeff
Victory, and other stars on the card
include Johnny B. Goode,
American Ninja, and the Texas
Outlaw. A special guest referee
will preside over the matches.
Tickets are $6 at the door and $5
in advance for adults and $4 at the
door and $3 in advance for ages 6-.

"Defensively, I think they're a lot
better than most people think they
are," said Massey. "They play pret-
ty much a shade 50, but they make
you carn everything you get. They
don't give up big plays. You don't
see people getting behind their sec-
ondary."
The Mountaineers relied on the
big play to defeat Burns last week,
and they also came away with
points every time they got inside
the 30 yard line. They'll have to
continue that success this week,
Massey said.
"Offensively, consistency will be
the key for us," he said. "They
haven't give up big plays so we're
going to have to be consistent. We
also have to eliminate turnovers
and penalties.
"Defensively, I hope that some-
how we can slow them down.
They're very good at running the
football...and throwing it."
Game time is 8 p.m. but KM
fans are encouraged to leave early.

Middle School girls
lose two of three
Kings Mountain Middle School's
girls softball team lost two of three
games during the past week to run
their record to 5-5 in the Bi-County
Conference.
Last Tuesday, KM fell to East
Lincoln 19-18. Csherian Coleman
was 3-for-4 with a home run and
Heather Causby and Haley
Montgomery were each 3-for-4
with a double. Jennifer Towery,
Ashley Wilson and Laura Bridges
each had two hits.
On Tuesday, the Lady patriots
defeated Burns 19-9 as Coleman
went 4-for-4 with a double, two
triples and five runs batted in.
Tabatha Goode was 3-for-4 with
two runs batted in, and was also
the winning pitcher. Ashley Starrett
was 3-for-5 with two RBI, Laura
Propst was 2-for-2 with a triple,
Stacy Dellinger 2-for-2 with a dou-
ble and two RBI, and Miranda
Hensley had a double.
On Thurday, KM fell to West
Lincoln 14-11. Haley Montgomery
and Csherian Coleman each hit a
home run and Laura Propst, Laura
Bridges and Ashley Starrett had
two hits each.

Haunted Hayride slated
at Boiling Springs arena
The fourth annual Haunted
Hayride at the Bar H Arena’ in
Boiling Springs will be held
Thursday, Oct. 26, Friday, Oct. 27
and Saturday, Oct. 28. Each night
of haunting will begin at dark (ap-
proximately 7:30 p.m.).
Admission is $5 for all ages.
