at Carolinas Medical Center in
Charlotte.
A native of Cleveland County,
she was the daughter of Everette
and Doris Grigg . of Kings
Mountain. She was a member of *
_Gastonia's First Baptist Church and
Baptist Church in Kings Mountain.
She was employed at River Rat
Restaurant in Lake Wylie, SC.

ents, are her husband, Earl
Garrison Long Jr. of Gastonia and

CHERRYVILLE - Josie Pennell
Azerelo, 91, of 1108 Sunset Rd.,
died October 11, 1995 at White
Oak Manor in Shelby.
A homemaker, she was the wid-
ow of Joseph Azerelo and the
daughter of the late George and
Sarah Perry. Pennell.
Surviving are two sons, Tony
Sabettie of Cherryville and Bill
Sabetti of Minneapolis, Minnesota;
one sister, Mrs. Ruth Gittens of
Gastonia; six grandchildren; and
14 great-grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by one son,
Louis Sabetti Sr. of Kings
Mountain.
The memorial service was con-
ducted October 14, 1995 at 11 a.m.
at the Chapel of First Baptist
Church by Dr. Dan Featherstone.

from Raleigh where they attended
the recent meeting of the North
Carolina League of Municipalities.

tainly not serving the best interest
of citizens but the best interests of
the bureaucracy itself.
"As a result the Director of DSS
and the county commissioners
want to remove Williams from the
board."
Allen said that Cleveland
County has become a "festering
sore on the good name of North
Carolina for having the highest
percentage of child abuse in the
state" and charged that DSS was
involved with families but did
nothing to protect the children ex-
cept publicly claim how good they
do their job.
Allen said that several years ago
the county commissioners em-
ployed Municipal Advisors Inc. to
evaluate the agency and the agency
gave the DSS a good report.
"However the MAI people didn't
-talk to citizens, only DSS manage-
ment," she said.
Allen called attention to the re-
cent victim of abuse, an 11-year-
old Shelby boy who is handicapped
and whose story, she said, has
gained national attention,
