. Gibbs- Packard Vows exchanged
Elizabeth Baptist Church in Shelby was the setting
for the October 14 wedding uniting Kimberly Michelle
Gibbs and Paul Alan Packard.
Rev. Jeff Brendle officiated the 4 p.m. ceremony for
which Jo Boggs, organist and pianist; Jeffrey Ross, vo-
calist; Joe Collins, dulcimer player; and Mike McKee,
vocalist and guitarist presented the nuptial music.
The sanctuary was decorated in an English garden
theme and the reception decorations further carried out
the decor.
The bride was given in marriage by her father, Gary
~ Gibbs, and her stepfather, John Elam.
She wore a white silk brocade formal-length gown
designed with Sweetheart neckline appliqued with
pearls and beads and enhanced by a long skirt with
Cathedral train. Her hip-length veil was attached to a
Camelot cap of pearls and sequins and she carried a
bouquet of peach roses, larkspur, gardenias and ivy.
Erin Lamb of Portland, Oregon was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Tracy Johnson, Cynthia Gould and
Lori McKee, all of Shelby.
They carried tea-length gowns of peach brocade
and carried bouquets of peach roses, white gardenias
and ivy.
Jeremy Packard, cousin of the bridegroom, was
ringbearer and Carrie Gibbs, sister of the bride, was
flower girl.
Victor Wayne Packard II of Charleston,SC, brother
of the bridegroom, was best man.
Groomsmen were Mark Sheriff, David Steeves,
Brian Johnson and Bart Lee, all of Shelby.
Jamie Gibbs, sister of the bride, presided at the reg-
ister.
Lindsay Stratton and Nicholas Stratton of Portland,
Oregon, cousins of the bridegroom,distributed the
programs.
Conrad Hughes directed the wedding.
Mr. and Mrs. John Elam hosted the reception after
the ceremony at Vauxhall in Shelby where garden-
style arrangements of larkspur, roses, lisianthus, stock,
fugii chrysanthemums, lilies and ivy decorated the re-
freshment tables overlaid with white floor-length
cloths topped with Battenburg lace. The four-tiered
wedding cake was topped with fresh roses and garde-
nias and was cut and served with punch and party re-
freshments.
The bride is the daughter of John and Pat Elam of
Shelby and Gary and Marquita Gibbs of Burnsville
and granddaughter of Lewis and Dorothy Stafford of

Black Mountain and Ruth Gibbs of Burnsville.
Great-granddaughter of Mrs. Enola Canipe, she gradu-
ated from Shelby High School in 1988 and from UNC
at Charlotte in 1992. She is a registered nurse on the
staff of Cleveland Memorial Hospital in Shelby.
The bridegroom is the son of Vic and Sandi
Packard of Shelby and grandson of Marion and Ruby
Packard of Shelby, Bill and Nova Blanton of Las
Vegas, Nevada and Mrs. Ruth White of Kings
Mountain. He is a 1989 graduate of Shelby High
School and a 1992 graduate of Gardner-Webb
University. A Lieutenant in the U. S. Army Reserves,
he is a registered nurse on the staff of Cleveland
Memorial Hospital in Shelby.
The bridegroom's parents hosted the rehearsal din-
ner October 13 at Days Inn, Shelby.
The newlyweds have returned from a wedding trip
to Hawaii and are residing in Shelby.
