W. Gill and Sons Funeral Home, founded by her husband. BOBBY ETTERS SR. Bobby Etters Sr., 65, of 701 Lrescent Circle, died November 22, 1995 At Jeings Mountain Hospital A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of, the late John William and Ardella Harmon Etters and was a retired dispatcher for Fredrickson Motor Express. i He was a member of First Wesleyan Church. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War. i Surviving are his wife, June Babb Etters; two sons, Bobby Etters Jr. and John Lewis Etters, both of Kings Mountain; one step- son, Allen Pate of Williamsburg, Va.; one daughter, Suzanne Williams of Kings Mountain; one step-daughter, Debbie Ross of Kings Mountain; three brothers, Charles Etters, Lawrence Etters and Winfred Etters, all of Kings Mountain; three sisters, Evelyn Tyler of Kings Mountain, Dorothy Lane of Vale and Martha Sue Jackson of Raleigh; and four grandchildren. | The funeral was conducted November 24, 1995 at 2 p.m. at First Wesleyan Church. Rev. Don Williams, Rev. J. W. Phillips and Rev. Wray Barrett officiated. Burial was in Mountain Rest Cemetery. FEETITRIEN INE JOHN HENRY MOORE SR. John Henry Moore Sr., 83, of 121 Moore Rd., died November 23, 1995 at Cleveland Memorial Hospital. ¥ A native of Cleveland County, he was the son of the late John Perry and Nancy Ballew Moore. He was a retired employee of Gambrill Mill in Bessemer City. He was a member of Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. He was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are his wife, Austine Chambers Moore; one son, John Henry Moore Jr. of Kings Mountain; six daughters, Myrle M. King, Barbara M. Wilson, Millie Moore and Kay M. Proctor, all of Kings Mountain, Julia M. Mintz of Gastonia and Jane M. Coleman of Greensboro; three sisters, Mattie Neal and Carrie Sellers, both of Cherryville, and Martha Green of Kings Mountain; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The funeral was conducted November 25, 1995 at 2 p.m. at Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church. Rev. Mitchell Pruitt and Rev. Sam Mintz officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. JIM YARBRO SR. PATTERSON SPRINGS - James Hillard "Jim" Yarbro Sr., 60, of 124 Kim Dr., died November 27, 1995 at Charlotte Presbyterian Hospital. A native of Cleveland County, he was a retired self-employed contractor and the son of the late Jesse Hillard and Flora Bookout Yarbro. He was married to Glenda Drewery Yarbro and was a member of First Baptist Church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two sons and daughter-in- law, James Hillard Yarbro Jr. of Shelby and Chris Scott and Tina Yarbro of Patterson Springs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sherry and Wayne Burkett of Mint Hill and Dana and Reece White of Shelby; three brothers, Doug Yarbro, Mike Yarbro and Jeff Yarbro, all of Kings Mountain; five sisters, Shirley Guyton, Grace Disabato, Becky Roper and Kathy Yarbro, all of Kings Mountain; and six grandchildren, Josh Burkett, Alex White, Matthew and Justin Yarbro, Jessica Burkett and Caitlin White. A sister, Judy Marlowe, preceded him in death. The funeral will be conducted. Thursday at 2 p.m. at Patterson Springs Baptist Church by Rev. Steve Waters. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. JOHNNY LESLIE WRIGHT Johnny Leslie Wright, 87, of 214 McGill Court, died November 18, 1995 at Kings Mountain Hospital. A native of Smyrna, SC, he was the son of the late Drewery D. and Nanny Harper Wright. He was pre- ceded in death by his wife, Lillie Towery Wright. Surviving are one daughter, Cleone Jackson of Kings Mountain; one brother, William Wright of Gaffney; seven grand- children; and 17 great-grandchil- dren. The graveside service will be conducted November 30, 1995 at !1 a.m. at Mountain View Cemetery in Blacksburg, SC. WAGNER “STATESVILLE - Mrs. Mary Evelyn Clark Wagner, 83, 427 Glen Eagles Road East, died ‘Monday, November 27, 1995 at Iredell Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. A native of Iredell County, she was the daughter of the late Charles Lemuel Clark and Lessie Green Booker Clark, and wife of the late John "Jack" Marcus Wagner. She was also preceded in death by an infant sister and four brothers, Charles C. Clark, Floyd Booker Clark, Herbert Franklin Clark and James Lessie Clark. She was a member of Broad Street Methodist Church, where she had been a member of the United Methodist Women. She was active in civic and com- munity activities. She was one of the organizers of the Piedmont Girl Scout Council, an avid bird hunter, and one of the first women golfers in Iredell County. She was a mem- ber of the Statesville Country Club and Blowing Rock Country Club and was a past Ladies Club cham- pion at both clubs. She was Tournament Chairperson of the North Carolina Women's Amateur Golf Association Championship held at Statesville Country Club in 1968. She was the author of the James Clark Family Record, doing re- search and compilation of the fami- ly ancestry. She spent summers at her home in Blowing Rock. She was a graduate of Statesville High School. She is survived by a son, John Marcus "Mark" Wagner of Statesville; three daughters, Mrs. Charles F. (Lynne) Mauney of Kings Mountain, Mrs. John N. (Kaye) Morgan of Statesville and Mrs. Ronnie D. (Jean) Ray of Deep Gap; a brother, Leroy Alexander Clark of Louisville, Ky.; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Mayes of Davidson; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. A memorial service was con- ducted by the Rev. Kelley R. Jones Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Broad Street United Methodist Church. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery prior to the memorial service. Active pallbearers were grand- sons Nick, Marcus and Charles Morgan, Stephen Mauney and Scott Ray, along with Bill Winters. Memorials may be made to the Foundation Fund, Broad Street United Methodist Church, 315 West Broad Street, Statesville, NC 28677, or to the church or charity of the donor's choice. DELILAH BOLTON BLACKSBURG, SC - Mrs. Delilah Moss Bolton, 82, 539 Cherokee Falls Road, died Monday, November 27, 1995 at Upstate Carolina Medical Center in Gaffney. Mrs. Bolton was the wife of the late James H. Bolton and the daughter of the late William M. and Maggie Carroll Moss: She was retired from Minette Mills and was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a member of the BWU and the T.E.L. Bible Class at First Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, James W. Bolton Sr. and Ray L. Bolton, both of Blacksburg; two daughters, Doris Ann Parrish of Kings Mountain and Martha Bolton of the home; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Broome and Nancy L. Moss, both of Blacksburg; 11 grandchildren and six great-grand- children. The funeral will be conducted by the Revs. Alester McKinney, Jim Clark and Richard Brown Thursday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the home un- til service time on Thursday. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels, 218 N. Limestone Street, Gaffney, SC 29340. Grover to light tree GROVER - The holiday season will officially begin in Grover Sunday with the traditional lighting of the tall Christmas tree in front of Town Hall at 5 p.m. After the lights are turned on, the group will sing carols and af- terwards will be treated to refresh- ments by the Grover Woman's Club inside Town Hall. Mayor Ronald Queen invites the public. A Christmas parade will not be held in Grover this year. Board to take oath GROVER- The recently elected town officials will take the oath of office Monday at 7 p.m. Mayor Ronald Queen will pre- side over a short period of unfin- ished business and give the mayor's report after which notary Judy White will ‘administer the ‘oath’ of office to incutfibent Queen and in- cumbent Councilman Jack Herndon and new member Elizabeth Throop.
